Vehicle Detail
This is a 1965 Plymoth Fury. I bought this car a few years ago and was in the process of restoring it with my sons, however at this point I've decided this would be better left to someone with the space and tools to finish the restoration themselves. The pictures tell the whole story though I will try and answer what questions I can about the vehicle if needed. This IS an ALL numbers matching vehicle which will mean much to specific collectors. The value of a 1965 Fury Sedan is obvious: Since 1965 to date, most of the 1965 Fury Sedans were crushed, or torn apart and sold for parts for the other 1965 Fury lineup, meaning these Sedans are for the most part not available in the market. However, IF you have a Fury Sport, Fury Wagon and the Fury Convertible, as your present suite of vehicles, or are planning to create this 1965 Plymouth Fury "Matched Set", this is a viable candidate to be the first or finishing piece of your collection.....Additionally, IF you have a fully working 1965-1966 Fury Sedan this would make a good parts car, as all glass in intact, and all original interior although exposed over the years, is in decent shape, due to the generally dry weather conditions in Wichita Falls, TX. We purchased the Fury from the original owners brother, and have a copy of the hand typed title for provenance should you wish to keep it as part of the history. NOTE: The dark red tint you see over the car and under the paint is not rust but is dark red primer - this has actually saved the car from rusting while sitting in Wichita Falls, Texas over the years before we purchased it and started restoring it. There is only slight surface rust in few locations which have been sprayed with a de-oxidizer, to preserve the area. Some words of warning, the engine will need to be overhauled at some point as it is fifty years old and was never designed to run on modern fuel also, if you buy this vehicle I strongly recommend having it towed or for you to bring a trailer, it is road legal, however I would not recommend attempting to drive it home. With that out of the way let me tell you what I've accomplished so far. To start, I've managed to get the car running and driving, however it cannot drive for more than thirty minutes without overheating; we've already replaced the radiator and water pump, leading us to believe the block itself needs to be cleaned, something I couldn't do with the space and tools we have at present. In this vehicle, ALL gauges, lights, and electronics work...The speedometer was actually repaired by one of the men who had built it in 1965....The AC appears to still be in vacuum, however does not blow cold, it may just need a refill of Freon or something more. The radio makes noises however it would seem the speaker has long since died....Please remember vehicle is fifty years old after all, but has held up over the years. There is something special about this car that cannot be explained until you see it and sit behind the new wood wheel. Start your collection, or finish your collection with this Fury!!!
