- Financing is easily available at jjbest.com Up for auction is a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 with a 350ci V8 rocket engine and a 4 speed manual transmission. We apologize that we cannot show more photos or video on ebay, but you can access many more photos and video from our website at V8vintage.com VIN: 3G87M2M******Year: 1972Make: OldsmobileModel: CutlassExterior Color: RedInterior Color: BlackMileage: 61,280Engine: 350 V8Transmission: 4 Speed Manual Vehicle Description:This one has the 442 look you want as well as the performance and power to go with it. The Bright Red paint is slick and the body alignment is very good. According to the VIN and data plate it is an original matching numbers Oldsmobile Cutlass V8 with bucket seats and only 61,000 original miles! It has a limited slip rear end and a highway gear ratio, can do 80mph on the freeway for distance travel. It also has the Aluminum case muncie transmission. Here is the VIN decode information Division: Oldsmobile Year: 1972 Model: Cutlass Body: Hardtop Coupe Engine: V8-350 4BBL Plant: Lansing, Michigan Transmission Decoding Information: It is an aluminum case muncie - main case casting no: 3925661 = 1970-1974, M20 2.52 1st, M21 2.20 1st, M22 2.20 1st, Patent Number, 1" Bore - stamping at rear of main case (vertical) P2C03A = p muncie plant, 2 1972, C march, 03 3rd day, A M20 - tag on side of trans: 6271516W0 This 442 is the most desirable red exterior with black striping and black interior. The exterior is in very nice condition. There are only some very minor paint defects that are pointed out in the photos and described below. You can also see in the photos the shine and reflection of the overall body, very nice! This car as it is now starts right up and drives great! It has a racy note through the true OE exhaust. The engine is powerful and easily breaks the tires loose if your not careful (or if that is your intention), and the transmission operates properly. Lots of 442 options. The car has factory power steering and factory power front disc brakes as well, making driving enjoyable and effortless. This one has the lightweight inner fender wells which we have read were a 442 option from 1969-1972, the functional fiberglass Ram-Air hood also for a weight savings and better engine aspiration, and finally the functional Ram-Air intake assembly. We did find that this car also has the 442 performance reinforced rear trailing arms and what we believe is a Corporate 10 bolt rear with aluminum W27 inspection cover. A very great looking, great driving classic! Tires are decent on original 14" vintage wheels with great looking paint and trim and matching valve stem caps. The trim is all in pretty great original condition. This car has been stored indoors in a private collection. All of the glass is good and works perfect. The radio works like new and the glovebox is in good condition. The 442 sport steering wheel is original as far as we can tell and in good condition and the horn operates properly. The interior is in great shape. The seats are original and appear near mint and very comfortable. The gauges and lights work except the tachometer in not accurate and reads low for some reason. The weatherstripping is in aged but good condition and appears to be all there. The car runs and drives amazing. I have driven it to Houston and back on roughly 150 mile round trips for testing and pleasure and it is alot of fun and gets alot of attention. We just had the car serviced and they installed new performance coil springs in all four corners and replaced the front disc brake calipers and hoses. The car has no mechanical problems that we can find. We are confident that the miles are original. This car also comes with a cool miniature 442 keychain so you dont forget which car the keys go to.In addition it has all the visual horse power you could want not to mention nice bucket seats and solid floors and frame. It has the W30 spoiler and wide stripe 442 appearance package. The exhaust is factory true dual with the correct tips and really calls out when you open up the secondaries. Being red and black with bucket seats, 442 trim, Rally Wheels and a 4 speed with Ram-Air options you couldn't find a nicer combination and it makes for a great collectible or pleasure vehicle. Don't miss out on a chance to own one of the more desirable Olds from the 70s, ready to enjoy now.Features• 350 CID Oldsmobile Rocket V8• 4bbl carb with Ram-Air intake • 4 speed aluminum manual transmission• Oldsmobile limited slip Rear End• Bright red with black 442 stripes & spoiler• 442 fiberglass Ram-Air hood• 442 lightweight inner fenders• Full Dual Exhaust with 442 tips• 442 sport steering wheel• Factory power steering• Factory Deluxe AM/FM radio in the dash• Factory power front disc brakes with NEW calipers and hoses• Beautiful Black Dash, Sun Visors and Headliner• Clean engine bay that is show ready• Near mint black Bucket Seats • 442 performance reinforced rear control arms• Color keyed Racing mirrors and day/night inside rear view• Factory very nice Olds Rally Wheels with center caps and trim• Rear air shocks to adjust height • NEW Performance coil springs Defects: (see photos on website) • very small paint defects on edge of driver door, near trunk lock, near edge of trunk lip • very small paint defects on hood edge from age (fiberglass hoods were installed with rivets and the rivets cause little paint defects with age) • small crack in dash plastic above glovebox on top of dashpad on passenger side • the trunk pan has been previously repaired • the inside structure of the fiberglass hood has a crack from age near the latch, but is still very solid and easily repaired. Other than the above, the car looks amazing, drives well and gets alot of attention. The mechanicals are solid, a safe 99%, the interior is near perfect, another 99%, the exterior is very cherry but with small defects at an 88%, hence the sub-$40k price tag. This is one you dont have to be afraid to drive. Very fun car to take to the local meet or cruise around town. We have driven the car through town many times and on long trips and never had any problems. Its one of the nicest 442s you'll see for under $40k. Priced very reasonably for its options. Keep in mind it is 46 years old and not a new car, but it is in good condition considering its age. You can hop in right now and enjoy. We are collectors first,... We are not just here to sell cars.
