I HAVE OWNED THIS 1985 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SPUR FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS (TIRES ONLY HAVE A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON THE NITTO'S) I PUT ON $5,000 20" CUSTOM WHEELS AND TIRES TO MAKE IT LOOK MUCH MORE MODERN, AS THE ORIGINAL ROLLS ROYCE WHEELS OF THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S LOOK VERY DATED. I AM A STICKLER ON MAINTAINING MY CARS AND NEVER NEGLECT ANYTHING.I HAVE MAINTAINED THIS CAR WITH OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES OR EVERY 6 MONTHS, WHICH EVER COMES FIRST, AS WELL AS CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ABOUT 5,000 MILES AGO. I JUST PUT ON BRAND NEW REAR ACCUMULATORS FOR THE REAR SHOCKS, NEW REAR ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS, NEW FRONT BUSHINGS THAT ARE KNOWN TO WEAR OUT DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR AND REMOVABLE TINTED HEADLIGHT COVERS. (THEY HAVE A VELCRO BACKING, SO YOU CAN REMOVE THEM EASILY) I GOT A TON OF COMPLIMENTS ON THIS CAR EVERYTIME I DROVE THE CAR FROM YOUNG TO OLDER PEOPLE, AS THE CAR DOES NOT LOOK DATED, LIKE MOST ALL OTHER 1980'S AND EARLY 1990'S ROLLS ROYCE'S. THE BAD:1. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED, I STARTED UP MY CAR AND LET IT WARM UP, LIKE I DO WITH ALL MY CARS AND 25 SECONDS LATER THERE WAS SOME NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, SO I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I HAVE VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING, BECAUSE I HAVE SECURITY CAMERA'S IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. MY SON TOOK OFF THE SPARK PLUGS AND DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND THE CYLINDER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CLOSEST TO THE PASSENGER HAD NO COMPRESSION. JUST HAPPENED THIS WEEK AND HAVE NOT STARTED OR DRIVEN THE CAR. I OWN SEVERAL CARS AS WELL AS OTHER ROLLS ROYCE'S AND SOMEONE THAT WANTS A GREAT MAINTAINED CAR THAT CAN OR KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS CAR WILL LOVE THIS CAR. I told him the issue and he advised me to do a compression test and said that it should be around $2,000 - $3,000 to fix the issue, especially since the issue happened on starting the car and not while driving. The car was only at idle when the issue happened, so it could possibly be even less of a fix. I have seen other Rolls Royce Silver Spurs with ripped seats, missing interior parts, missing grill, clear coat coming off and many other cosmetic issues, which cost quite a bit of money, as I am pretty sure much more than my car I have for sale.
