Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 2nd to last car project prior to the wedding finally being here (I thought putting the wedding 2 years out from the proposal was a good idea turns out it just gave her time to convince me to sell everything..........). The 1986 corolla GTS you see in the background will also be up for sale, it is a rainbow red hardtop (i.e. no sunroof) hatch with 152k miles. Just putting the timing belt on that I bought for it months ago. But in the meantime here is my 3000GT VR4 which I intended to keep long term, searched high and low for a 97-98 ( I don't like the 99 combat wing cars) with this color combo and good maintenance history, bought it from a doctor who had owned it since it came off lease new. BUT.......................weddings are expensive and I am getting old, I have to be responsible and stuff now. I have a folder an inch thick with receipts and all of the original OEM documentation including the little hang tag that came in it new teaching you how to use the auto climate control. Only thing I don't have is the window sticker, possible he framed that hah. I even have correspondence between the salesman and a copy of the check used to purchase the car originally. If it tells you anything he only ever had Michelins on the car and it currently has a brand new set, for some reason he hated the original wheels so I have no idea what happened to those. The wheels that are on it are from 2001 or so. Below are the rest of the details, I'll do my best to describe everything if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Interior: Interior wise it is damn near perfect. Drivers leather seat shows a little wear of course, car was driven regularly, as does the shift knob, both can be restored to perfect relatively cheap. The floormats have a few stains, like any doctor he drank coffee. Everything works for the most part, radio, cd changer, gauges, switches, lights, climate control, power sunroof, power door locks, power windows, power seat, mirrors, etc.... The only thing it really needs is the climate control power transistor/resistors. Common problem with these cars, you just have to take it out and solder some new ones on the board or you can pay someone to do it costs about $150. It turns on all the controls work, but blower motor will only work on high. Other than that needs nothing, very clean, smells nice too! Exterior: Exterior wise with a professional detail it would look close to a showroom car from any sort of distance. It has never been in any wrecks pulled the Carfax, and none of the panels look like they have had body work. It has a few super minor dings that you have to search for, overall looks great! No clear coat fading, the hatch has been painted for some reason, I can tell because the color is just slightly off from the rest of the car. The right quarter has some touch up spots where he brushed against something, the passenger fender has a light scratch that the fingernail doesn't catch. There are some rock chips on the front end, I mean it was driven for 148k, few small rust chips as well but nothing that can't be easily corrected. All the lights work, including fogs, power antenna works perfect, hatch and hood struts work great, doors, windows, sunroof etc... No issues with any of that. Well kept garaged car. It does have some surface rust on the undercarriage, put some inhibitor on it to protect it, nothing serious. It looks like a showroom car going down the road and great in pics, but it isn't perfect. Wouldn't take that much to be perfect though, much better starting point than most of the trash out there. Mechanical: Mechanically it doesn't need anything as of right now. It literally has a stack of over $30,000 of maintenance that was done to it. Let me give you an example, one receipt from the Mitsubishi dealer says the transmission was seeping fluid from the case seal (not a big deal) so he opted to pay them $6,000 to put a new transmission in it AT THE DEALER...... It has a new clutch, flywheel resurfaced, the timing belt was done not long ago looks great, it just had all new wires, plugs, 99' lifter upgrade, new PTU, had the injectors balanced and flow matched, brakes done not that long ago, new Michelins all around, fluids, clutch line, brake line, brake fluid and clutch fluid flushed/bled, alignment, wheel balancing, etc.... Has all of the oil change receipts. It does have some rust on the bolts and shields and stuff, easy to fix/replace if you want to never bothered me. Mechanically the car is a wonderful start to any project, only thing it really needs is an air filter was a little dirty last I checked just hadn't decided if I wanted to put a stock one in or upgrade. Still, car is FAST, shifts beautiful, no grinds, clutch is strong, brakes are strong, no warning lights on the dash, ABS works, etc... That is pretty much it, if you know what you're looking for you know what this is. Car is rare, and especially in this condition! I hope it goes to someone that is willing to make it perfect and keep it long term. This is a no reserve auction so whatever it goes for it goes for.
