Most of these are either miled out, modified beyond comprehension or are just in really 'tattered' condition. We all know convertibles are susceptible to extensive interior wear if neglected and I've seen many but the original condition of this car is just incredible. Another great thing about this 103,000 original mile SL is that it has the tried, true and super reliable 3.2L inline six cylinder which provides fantastic cruising performance as is relatively low maintenance, especially compared to the SL500 and even more so, the SL600. It is touted by critics and enthusiasts alike as the best one to buy of the three and I agree. This car is in original condition, no big custom wheels, no 'performance' parts, no hacked in electronics or alarms, just how you want to find one. It doesn't even have any aftermarket window tint. Other than the windshield, tires and battery, it's all original. Options include BOSE premium audio, factory mobile phone w/handset, keyless entry, headlamp washer/wipers and heated seating as well as dual power/memory seats. The car is very complete, it comes with floor mats, both keys, all owners books, first aid kit, jack, wind-screen and the factory full sized spare that has never seen the ground. Of course, this is a 22 year old classic so there are a few items that show some wear but stacked up to anything else I've seen, you will not be disappointed. Please take the time to read my description and review the 100+ photos below which include both tops, suspension and undercarriage where you can see the original 'chalk-markings' on various components. The body of the car is nice and straight with no major dings, dents or scratches. There are a few stone chips up front and some scuffing on the lower portion of the front spoiler but no damage. All lights and lenses are intact aside from the left fog lamp (lens is cracked) and all are operational. Hard top is in great shape as is the soft top, plastic windows are clean and clear, just a bit of seam separation along the middle-side portions of the rear window, it all stays in place, I'm probably just being picky. Factory roll bar works properly and it hosts the wind-screen to keep the cabin calm while driving top-down. Glass is nice, the windshield has a few small pits, nothing major and no way in need of replacement, no wiper marks either. Sides are crystal clear as they are on the hard-top as well. Tires are excellent, easily 75% tread remaing and a matching set of four Toyo's at all corners. The factory alloy wheels, while showing just minimal aging are in remarkable condition with no chemical burns or curb checking. The interior is just as impressive, no tobacco, pet or musty odors either, it smells fresh inside. Seating is original and remarkable in the sense that there are no tears, seam separation or excessive wear, even on the outer bolsters. Leather is supple and soft with no dryness or shrinkage. Carpets are clean and again I cannot believe that they are not excessively sun-bleached as you see on many of these, very clean and free of stains or burns. Dash is impeccable with no splits, warping or heaving at any point and no fading or discoloration. Aside from a hairline fracture in the woodgrain as you will see in the photos of the center console and the door on the driver vanity mirror (has a small crack and does not stay put, illumination and everything still works) there really are no issues or disappointments with the interior. All power seating, windows, locks, A/C, stereo and gauges are functional. Mechanically the car is just as nice as it appears. It is silky smooth on the freeway, has plenty of power and holds the road incredibly well. The car has exhibited no leaks, does not make any strange noises and does not overheat. The car has been meticulously maintained and with nearly $4000 in service and maintenance receipts over the last couple years, you can rest assured the car has been loved. Also worthy of a mention, the car passed our strict AZ emissions standards less than 6 months ago and there are no warning lights on in the dash. So, the choice is yours. Do you trip over this garage kept, well maintained and thoroughly complete rust free SL320 to pay more a lower mile car that likely is nowhere near as clean, complete or nice?
