Vehicle Detail
1970 Dodge Challenger RT Convertible - U code (440 - 4 barrel) This is 1 of only 163 U codes built. It is an AC car and has front disc brakes. The numbers on the cowl and radiator support match the vin#. No fender tag or buildsheet were with the car when I bought it. The car was originally green and I have several photos of it with the original paint. The body was stripped down, blasted, and epoxy primed. Lots of work has already been done. Basically the metal work on the front 2/3rds of the car is nearly complete. A new front floor pan and nice original rear foot pans were installed. The upper cowl was replaced, original inner fenders and lower cowl were patched. The car still needs the outer wheel houses patched, trunk extensions replaced, trunk pan patched and quarters installed. All of that new metal is included. The driver's side lower door pillar still needs some work. There is a plate welded to the front passenger side frame rail. It could need a patch under there or it might just be a poor attempt at an old motor mount of some sort from back in the day. I haven't removed it to investigate but I did buy a mint original frame rail in case a patch is needed. There are also 2 small areas on the lowest underside of the rear frame rails that have some pin holes. Two small flat patches maybe 2"x4" will be needed to repair them. Other wise all of the other frame areas are rock solid. The car comes with a nice RT hood, nice doors, nice original fenders, new AMD trunk lid, and nice valances. Also included is nearly every part needed to build the car including all of the convertibe specific parts, nice roof frame, interior, nice rear panels, all windshield stainless, 15" Rallye wheels, a go-wing assembly and all of the trim. Most of the bolts, screws, and small brackets are bagged and tagged. The only parts that I know are missing are the driveshaft, radiator, some of the underhood AC parts, the rear bumper brackets, and the console. Also included is a complete Non numbers matching 1970 440 HP drivetrain complete from oil pan to carburetor and the correct 727 transmission. The engine and transmission have matching vin numbers and appear to have come out of another 1970 U code challenger or cuda. I would also be willing to keep this drivetrain if the buyer didn't want it. I think a 392 hemi or a hellcat drivetrain would be perfect for this car.... I have started bolting the car back together for shipping and can also bolt the engine and transmission in place as well if necessary. I have a ton of spare parts and I will include all of the best parts I have gathered for the project. This is a very worthwhile project I planned on building the car with a black exterior with red interior but I recently purchased a 71 Barracuda Convertible driver and I just don't have time to complete this project now. I encourage anyone that can come and see it in person to do so. I will send any additional pictures to you that you need upon request. I will do anything I can within reason to assist with shipping of the car and parts. I have a clear Massachusetts title in my name. I will respond promptly to questions sent through the ebay contact system. I have added a buy it now with best offer. If you don't want the engine and/or transmission please note that with your offer.
