If this vehicle experienced flooding at all it wasn’t enough to enter the cab, I am positive of that. I have inspected closely and there’s been no water intrusion at all which is why I bought it along with 2 other “flood vehicles”. There were over 500,000 vehicles that owners claimed on insurance following the flooding in TX. Due to the overwhelming claims it was impossible for adjusters to examine vehicles so settlements were made based on zip code so insurance companies were forced to honor all claims without inspection so there are a lot of vehicles tagged now as flood vehicles that weren’t actually flooded, at least not enough to cause any damage. Note: Miles listed (32,358) are the actual miles. There are no limits on registration or insurance for a vehicle with a flood title. Most municipalities will however lower the personal property tax (good news). Here where I live in SC it is discounted 50%. MECHANICAL CONDITIONAll the features and accessories work like new, every button and electronic component functions like it supposed to. I've tested them all. It does however need mechanical repair. The engine idle cycles up and down and the check engine light is on (code = cam timing sensor). I took it to a local Bimmer specialty shop for troubleshooting and the said it needs to have the timing chain and guide replaced per BMW Service Bulletin SI B11 03 17. This repair is common on the N20 & N26 engines and covered by a special extended warranty by BMW but because this vehicle has a salvage title it is ineligible. The shop explained that the issue is that the timing chains on these motors are stretching and causing timing issues and engine noise. Repair estimates vary because they don’t know what needs to be replaced until they disassemble the timing chain cover and assembly. Hopefully just be the chain and guide but could be additional components such as the oil pump drivetrain module and rails depending on wear. I was told to expect $1500-2000. There is info on this bulletin and repair online. Car runs and drives now but the recommendation from the shop was to not drive until repaired to avoid internal damage to the engine so I had it towed. I bought 3 vehicles at the same time at a dealer auction to sell and really don’t have the time or additional funds to invest in repairs, so I’m taking the sell as a “mechanics special” as is approach first. Great opportunity for someone else to repair and resell or keep and have a nice vehicle at a discounted price. Tire replacement should also be on the to do list.
