1996 Chevy Camaro Z28 SS SLP, LT1, 6-Speed Manual Trans. Factory original 1996 #146 SLP Super Sport Camaro. SLP options list attached as image (Hurst, car cover, exhaust, mats, 17" tires/wheels, suspension, torsen, etc). Starting price below book retail price due to an oil leak and check engine light for crank sensor that I do not have time to fix. Due to recent cold weather the driver window regulator and motor slowed down so a new AC Delco replacement will be included. Very clean inside and out and occasionally taken to car shows. No rust or damage. Runs, drives, and stops good. Pictures were before a full detail and now has new SLP Hurst shift knob installed and the SLP car cover is included. Camaro SS background found on web forum: -For the first time in 24 years, the Camaro SS nameplate returned for the '96 model year. Due to dual catalytic converters, the 1996 Z28's power was up 10hp making a grand total of 285hp for this year. SLP (Street Legal Performance) improved upon the Z28 in a joint venture with Chevrolet producing the SS with a base horsepower of 300! With optional exhaust, 305 horsepower was available. -The '96 SS was marketed as a Z28 SS, and even the air filter carried the Z28 SS logo. However, the Z28 was dropped from the name and cars were officially referred to as SS's when production started. -A Camaro SS could be ordered from any Chevrolet dealership by simply adding R7T to a Z28 order through the Chevrolet Dealer Communication System (DCS). Wholesale and retail financing - including leasing - could be arranged through GMAC for an SS just like a Z28. SLP had a three-year/36,000 mile warranty on all SS content and options. The balance of the vehicle, which was not affected by the alteration, was covered by GM's limited warranty. Performance Exhaust System - $499.00 Referred to as Two-On-The-Left (TOTL) by enthusiasts, this exhaust system brought the '96 SS's horsepower rating from 300 to 305hp. It's an all stainless steel system that utilizes larger diameter exhaust pipes and freer flowing muffler compared to the standard SS exhaust system (the same exhaust as a Z28). Level II Bilstein Sport Suspension Package - $999.00 Consists of specially valved front and rear Bilstein shocks and progressive rate springs, revised rear lower control arms and transmission mount. This was only optional on SS hardtop coupes and t-top coupes. Convertibles were not allowed to have it.
