Vehicle Detail
Nice, 1-Owner Suburban that has lived in Spartanburg SC it's entire life. Being a southern vehicle this suburban has not been exposed to salt and the undercarriage, wheel wells and engine compartment are super clean. I'm selling this vehicle for an acquaintance who does not want to mess with it and is unfamiliar with ebay. I have driven this vehicle and found it to be in excellent mechanical condition. The motor is smooth and powerful (motor was replaced at 150,000 approx.), the transmission shifts crisp through all of the gears, power windows including tailgate glass all work properly, air conditioning works, all fan speeds work, rear air conditioning works, power steering and brakes work as they should. This vehicle is completely stock with no modifications. The tires are in excellent condition with at least 80% tread left. Battery appears to be recent and the motor starts quick with authority. The power door locks work with the exception of the right rear (door lock actuator?) Now for the bad, headlights will blink off without notice (switch?) so it is NOT safe to drive this vehicle at night. After the radio plays for a while it will fade out. Mr. Dent took very good care of this vehicle and serviced it every 3,000 miles. I would not hesitate to drive this vehicle across the country once the headlight problem is fixed. The seats, headliner, door panels and carpet are in amazing condition for a 28 year old vehicle with minimal stains and no rips or holes. The top of the dash on the other hand has seen better days and has multiple cracks. The paint on the sides and rear of the vehicle is in very good condition but the roof and hood need to be refinished. Please make sure you ask any and all questions before bidding on this vehicle. I have tried to disclose everything I can think of and below are some words from the owner himself. This vehicle is available for test drive and inspection. NOTE: There is another suburban on ebay that is going gangbusters because it is being promoted as (rust free!) which is laughable because it has lived it's entire life in Vermont, CT, and a brief period in NY. I know because I ran a Carfax history report. I'm not willing to say my vehicle is Rust Free because it does have some very light surface rust where the paint faded. If you can't find rust on an old suburban that lived in Vermont than I assure you that it has been covered up with a paint job and undercarriage coating. I purchased the 1990 GMC Suburban from Murphy Pontiac- Cadillac that was located on E. Henry Street, Spartanburg, SC. The dealership owner was Ellis Murphy and was a good family friend and he sold me the car. We decided to purchase the large vehicle due to the size of our 5-person family for school carpools and vacation travel. We had one accident in the car in 27 years when a young teenager was speeding on Fernwood Drive and decided to pass on the right side and I had our blinker on to turn right into a friend’s drive. The police charged the young lady with wreckless driving. In about the 4th year of ownership, the Service Department at Murphy called to say that GM was going to pay for repainting the vehicle as GM had had a bad experience with their original painting process. The car was repainted and looking at it the sides of the car look quite good but the roof and hood show deterioration. I have religiously changed oil about every 3,000 miles and taken very good care of the vehicle as I do all of our cars. You can’t expect much of a car like 2,500 mile vacation trips to Cape Cod if you don’t take care of it. I expect reliability due to excellent care and upkeep of the vehicle. I frankly hate to part with the Suburban as I know even with 305,000 miles it should provide good performance in the future with the care and attention I gave it. Respectfully submitted, Rick Dent
