This vehicle has stayed in the extended family nearly it's entire life! Not sure why it says "Black" in the search title....that's eBay autofill for ya! Starting out in Alabama, it has lived and been serviced via reputable Volvo dealerships from day one. When you bid to win this NO RESERVE car, you will rewarded with a gorgeous stack of service receipts upon pickup. One of the most important receipts being the timing belt that was replaced at mile marker 104k. Recently in it's venture in life, it migrated to Illinois where my best friend purchased the car from a struggling family member. He then repaired some items like installing brand new stabilizer bar bushings and new Bosch front brakes. Oil changes were normal during it's daily 40mins drives each way to work. It was then put on loan to another friend in need who couldn't swing a purchase of a car. This went on for about 6 months until it was returned, sadly with a dent in the door and a few extra nicks and scratches but in excellent working order. I have supplied you with plenty of detailed pictures below to show the exterior imperfections. Above you can see the 80+% treadlife left on the front tires with about 50% left on the rears. All ride on nice, minimally scuffed vibration free rims. Centercap Volvo stickers are missing as you can see. Front bumper cover looks nice and considering it's age and miles, the minimal amount of rockchips and scratches show a lesser aged vehicle. These S40s were prone to small amounts of rust in weird places like the front windshield trim areas and front fenders behind the wheels. There is no visible rust to be found on the car. White would show it immediately. All exterior illumination works as it should. Front glass headlight lenses are in excellent condition, clean and clear. Body shines nicely front to back, top to bottom. Hood and roof especially. Aside the dent below, there are a handful of smaller hard to see dings on the car. You would literally need to look for them as they aren't obvious. Dent doesn't rub on the fender or create any noise. Minor small scratches and touchups. Black trim has typical minimal fade, but still looks nice. Small scratch. Note the LACK of rust or rust scale on the inner fender lips. Above you can see the Alabama dealer sticker, which also happens to be the main source of servicing on the receipts. Hard to se but there are some tiny touched up scratches on the corner below the S40/1.8T. I'm no bodyman but I can't see any signs of a major accident or body repairs. Under the hood you will find a super duper clean engine compartment. Engine fires right up and runs smoothly. Turbo is quiet yet helps pull the powerful engine thru redline if needed. Transmission shifts thru every gear as it should. Underneath you won't see any major oil or coolant leaks. No spots on my shop floor overnight. No overheating. Oil and coolant are clean. 2 things, and I believe they are related: the exhaust flexpipe underneath will need replacement soon as there is a light pffftt noise while cold that goes away nearly completely after it warms up. These are easy muffler shop repairs usually in the $60-75 range. That said, there is an intermittent "Check Engine" light that comes and goes...from what I have been told. The light is NOT currently illuminated (see below pics) nor has it come on in my 50 or so miles driven in this car to ensure it's reliability. I suspect it is related to the minor exhaust leak but there are no codes present to read as I have tried. My No Reserve auction assures you that this isn't a problem to repair if needed at all, especially if you live in a non-emissions area. Meanwhile, the car drives PERFECTLY straight!! Seriously...I have the WORST semi truck damaged roads right outside my driveway and I couldn't believe how straight this car tracked and how straight the steering wheel remained!! Suspension is tight with no rattles or noises. Car drives straight and smooth with no pulling or wandering on any pavements. Brakes are noise free and firm with only a teeny tiny bit of rear pulse. As stated the front brakes are recently new Bosch pads, rears will need replacing soon since they show about 20% left. Interior is an easy 8-9 out of 10! I HATE smoke and can't see or smell any signs of a former smoker. The ONLY things to point out as a negative is a worn steering wheel...which now sports a sweet new steering wheel cover. The other is the sunroof slider shade panel is gone, which is a typical failure item on these cars. Other than that, the tan cloth is beautiful! No noticeable damages, cuts, rips, tears, stains, etc. Headliner and door panels look great. ALL the power items work as they should: power windows, locks, sunroof, mirrors, cruise, Ice COLD Air, HOT heat, climate controls, wipers, AM/FM/CD player, etc. Below you can see ALL the dummy lights illuminate upon startup with NONE staying on during run. The typical wear items are all nice....knobs, buttons, handles. Carpet is clean with no damages. Inspect my excellent feedbacks. You will NOT be disappointed with this car, inside or out. Zoom in and you can see the details of the timing belt replacement. Buy the car and you can see THE ENTIRE history of the car! Altho they CLEARLY have seen better days, the car comes with 2 transponder keys. Sorry, no keyless entry fobs. Only the couple manual items are included. Radio code is matching. Finally the factory original floormats are complete and included. The spare jack and tool kit are intact. The original spacesaver doughnut is gone, but there is a full size rim with tire instead!! You don't see that much anymore these days! This NO RESERVE car is 100% ready to go. Buy it. Drive it ANYWHERE with 100% confidence.
