Vehicle Detail
Needless to say if you have followed my other listings you're aware by now that the fiance has determined there is to be a fire sale of all my toys. As we're preparing for the wedding this upcoming year toys have to leave and funds have to arrive to pay for the rediculous venue! THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION WHATEVER IT GOES FOR IT GOES FOR. I have been gracefully allowed to keep 3x major toys and since I have 2x offroad vehicles one has to go, one is worth about 8x of these so I am keeping the expensive one. Without further adue I give you ol' trusty, the effectively cost efficient trail rig that just gets it done plain and simple. For the money you cannot do better than a FZJ-80, especially one with lockers, let alone a 40th anniversary truck i.e. the final year Toyota made these! Many of these trucks are north of 300k miles at this point because they are so easy drive, so well loved, and so damn reliable. This truck is a little lower at 225k miles and it still has a ton of life left! I'll go ahead and disclose it is definitely a trail rig, could you fix it up and doll it as a clean overland truck? Well anything is possible with enough money but if you are looking for something to punk your friends in their quasi 4runners (FJ cruisers) or bad friends in stock jeeps off-road then look no further! This truck HAS THE FACTORY LOCKERS, high pinion reverse gear front axle, full floating disc brake rear axle, quick change pad dual piston front calipers basically stolen from a toyota supra, bombproof drivetrain, and super reliable torquey 1FZ-FE 4.5L Inline 6 (the final year they made them so all the common issues they had were resolved by this point!). Exterior: Exterior wise the truck shows the fact that it is a trail rig well. If anyone doubted your manhood or overall decision making skills this truck will go ahead and most likely fix all of that for you. The down side to the exterior is that if you are a pansy boy that wants a scratch free "overland" expedition truck that might go down some dirt roads and call that an adventure it is not set up for that. Almost every panel has some sort of damage on it but zero significant rust. Why? BECAUSE IT WAS USED BY MEN OFFROAD THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY NOT THAT GREAT OF DRIVERS lol. The left rear roof definitely had some contact with mother nature and the drivers door has been replaced. You can see what is left of the 40th anniversary logos on the fenders! The good news is everything works, the hatch and tail gate work great as do the struts, the hood struts are 50/50 at best, but all the doors etc open and close perfect. All of the lights work, the power antenna works although it confuses me sometimes, it does antenna stuff. The sunroof works great as do all of the other windows. Has a few chips in the windshield but none have spread into cracks, looks great for the most part. Interior: It is dirty. Or was dirty, I vacuumed it a little but it could be way better with a proper detail. The drivers seat cover is toast as they usually are, the rest of the seats are decent, the carpet is meh, as is the headliner. I'd give it a 5/10, looks ok gets the job done nothing to phone home about as again it was used as a trail rig but it is definitely doable. Gauges work fine, radio works great, I am keeping my Sirius satellite thingy, the heat works great a/c needs to be recharged all the stuff is there just doesn't blow cold. All of the lights and controls work as they should, haven't tested the cruise control since I can remember because I don't use cruise control in a vehicle like this! Probably works, its a Toyota. The airbag light is on no idea why as the bags haven't deployed, probably has something to do with all the badass stuff we have done off-road and a wuss sensor didn't like that. The door ajar light stays on due to a bad door sensor somewhere haven't fiddled with it but as a consequence the door lights stay on so I just unplugged them, if you really want to you can just take the dome light fuse out but I don't really care about the little red light on the dash as i'm too busy DRIVING IT OFF-ROAD. Like I said earlier all the windows and such work fine, the drivers seat doesn't go back or forth so much but it is already in a good spot, seat back works fine. Mechanical: First off this land cruiser has never let me down.......probably because it is from the family of the most reliable vehicles ever made period end of story. It is not perfect but it is in pretty decent shape doesn't need much at all to be a daily driver. There is zero significant rust on the truck, I pressure washed the under carriage regularly. The truck has had frame sliders/rocker panel armor since it has been off road which really helped protect it. In fact let's take this opportunity to talk about the mods it has. Metal Tech Rocker Panel / Frame Sliders $1,000 not including installationMetal Tech Front Bumper $900 they dont even make it anymoreEngo 9,000lbs winch w/synthetic rope $600 does not currently work might just be contacts or solenoidOld Man Emu Medium Duty suspension lift kit w/spacers in the front $1,000Roof rack is free because I like youCB radio is free because every real man needs a CB radioThe Lockers are free because Toyota was a big badass in the 90's35" Cooper Discovery STT Mud Terrain Tires w/spare that are old but still have good treadCustom spare tire mount inside the truck for a 35" tire...................PRICELESSGeorge W Bush election sticker from his first 4 years in office? Even more PRICELESS. I remember making fun of him for being so stupid back in the day, but compared to what we have for a president now I would gladly take him back! She runs great, fires right up had a recent tune up and fresh battery only a few months ago. No smoke, no engine noise, no puddles of oil on the ground, no other leaks that I've seen, transmission is firm and smooth at the same time like a good massage. Lockers work, T-case works great, suspension and steering is all pretty good. No real mechanical issues, no check engine light even though it is OBD2. It does have 4x things I would do if I got to keep it longer. A. It needs an alignment like all trucks that have really been offroad, nothing is bent it just needs an alignment pretty bad for high speed street use, B. It needs new tires these things are old as hell, C. I think the A/C compressor or an idler pulley needs to be replaced has some noise coming from one of them, D. fix the dome light door sensor thingy. Other than that this a great start to your very own LOCKER equipped baller a$$ FZJ-80. You're welcome to come test drive it, title is clean clear in my name, I think I got everything but always possible I forgot something if you have any questions feel free to ask!
