Vehicle Detail

1983 Honda Goldwing GL1100. 1 owner, garaged and maintained through the years of less than only 25,000 original miles. This bike runs and rides. It is loaded with aftermarket chrome, leather bags and a cool old school cosmic theme custom paint job. I purchased the bike from the original owner this summer. The DMV let me keep the original title when I transferred it into my name. The title for the bike is current, clear and ready for a new owner. The bike was last safety inspected (Missouri) in 2013 and last on the road in 2015. The bike was parked in 2015 when the original owner (an older gentleman) parked it to purchase a new Harley. He kept the bike though, only selling it to me due to him retiring and moving (downsizing). The safety equipment works; right and left turn signals (front and back), head lights (high and low), horn and rear brake light. I am only selling the bike because it is not right for me as a first bike. It is not what I would consider a beginner/novice bike but that's your decision. This bike is fast and somewhat big at 600lbs.I am fairly mechanically inclined and have looked over the bike, riding it up and down the street, running it through the gears. It runs strong and smooth with more rpms and rides nice. Since purchased, I have: -Drained the old fuel, replacing with new, along with some Seafoam treatment. -Flushed the cooling system – looked good prior to change. -Changed the oil, oil filter and spark plugs – looked good prior to change. -Installed a new battery and genuine Honda starter solenoid – both needed replacing and are good now. Things I have found wrong with the bike: -Carbs need to be at least synchronized and likely only synchronized in my opinion. Kits to do this your self are on ebay for around $60. The process is not difficult and performed without removing the carbs. The carbs may also need to be gone through but maybe not, as the bike responds well as is with additional rpms. The bike does run and ride right now but does not idle well and has the notorious engine “banging” sound due to the carbs needing synchronization. Any rpms over say 2-3k and the 4 cylinder 1100 sounds and pulls good. -Rear brake does not work. Everything is there and the fluid is full. Opening the rear bleeder and pushing the pedal results in no fluid pushing through. My guess is that it may just need a rear master cylinder rebuild. Kits for the repair are in the $30 range on ebay. There really isn’t much more it could be. The front brake works good and the original owner said he just used the front brake. -Connect the amber lights for the chrome radiator scoop/air dam/cowl (what you may call it). All the wiring is there with quick plugins; I just couldn’t quickly figure it out (popped the fuse) in the few minutes I looked at it during reassembly after changing the oil/coolant. -I do not see a tail light illuminated when the head light is on. This is probably only a bulb. -I do not believe the gas gauge works.I have not found or know of any other issues. Please be open to expect possible additional issues though. I have been completely honest in describing this bike. I must say though as an 83’, it is being sold as-is, without any warranty. This bike is for someone to get into as needing a little work going into the cooler months. The price reflects that. If there is not any interest, I will synchronize the carbs, fix the rear brake and sell for probably significantly more money as a low mileage, one owner bike; whether that be now or in the spring. I can take more pictures, shoot videos, or talk in person/over the phone as needed for the transfer. Have confidence with my 100% feedback. Terms: -Pickup in person only. I will help load. If only bringing a pickup, you will need a 3rd person to help load. -10% minimum non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required immediately upon winning the auction. No exceptions. -Bike pickup from me is required within the following 10 days, when at that time, the remaining balance is to be paid in cash and the title transferred. Thank you for your interest!
