Vehicle Detail
Offering for sale 1969 GT-500, very low reserve. A rotisserie restoration on this car was completed approximately 10 years ago, and the car has not been fully sorted as of yet. The only sheet metal repair was to the rear quarter panels. Car was a very straight and original, virtually rust free. Original wheels with NOS center caps. Correct Lucas fog lights and switches. All new weatherstripping and new windshield. All suspension, including tie rods, tie rod ends, drag link, ball joints, control arm bushings, shocks replaced, original leaf springs were re-arched. Swaybar links and bushings were replaced. Brakes and Brake lines, master cylinder, etc. are all new. Exhaust system and original style muffler are new. Nodular 9" limited slip rear end has been completely disassembled and rebuilt. Car has Original engine and transmission that have both been completely rebuilt. 428 Cobra Jet, C-6 Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Carburetor has been rebuilt, has new starter, new alternator, all new original Ford hoses and clamps. Car has all smog emissions equipment as delivered in place. A/C compressor, lines, condenser, evaporator are all new, has never been charged. Original radiator has been recored. Upholstery and Seats freshly recovered. New door panels, carpet, dash pad, headliner, floor mats, etc. Correct original roll bar. Has working tilt away steering column. Stewart Warner gauges and mostly new interior parts I.E. trim, knobs, switches, etc. Some of the wiring harnesses have been replaced with correct components and some have been rebuilt. Car originally came with an AM radio, now has AM / FM period correct radio. Optional fold down rear seat. I have a very low reserve on this car, it will require some sorting out. Here is a list of what I know it needs.Parking brake assembly needs to be replaced, new one comes with car. Air conditioning has never been charged, needs to be charged. Engine is completely rebuilt but smokes (does not smell like engine oil) believed to be a transmission vacuum modulator, new one comes with car. Tires are new but need to be replaced due to age. Rim blow steering wheel needs to be repaired. Many NOS Parts which include, gaskets spare wheel, wiring, a few reproduction parts, hardware, etc. will come with the car. Well documented car, registered in Shelby American World Registry 1987 on page 500. Clear Texas title, NOS 1969 Texas license plates will come with the car. I have tons invested in this car, Im retiring to go fishing. Other cars and motorcycles forthcoming. If you would like to preview the car feel free to contact me at 8323474021. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale localy. I have made an effort to accurately describe the car to the best of my knowledge, if you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking! On Oct-13-17 at 14:59:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked several times, the car does run and drive. One of the tires is bad, we will replace it. Tilt away steering does work as it should, interior lights work. Car has been sitting, we put fresh gas and a new battery in it and the car fired up and ran. The longer it ran the better it seemed, but still hazes smoke. I do not think it is burning engine oil. Similar cars that are sorted are bringing $90-110K at auction. We have uploaded a youtube video of the car running. It can be seen by searching on youtube: Tom's 1969 Shelby GT-500
