My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2001 Chevrolet Astro LS in the desirable long wheelbase version. The Astro is one of the most rugged and reliable mini-vans ever made. The exterior of this Astro would rate as AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking van. It is finished in a medium blue, which looks good. The finish shines nicely for an older vehicle and looks smooth all around. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific Astro, the worst I can point out is a rust hole in the rocker at the driver's door...most likely from being hit over and over by the driver's heel as they got out. Otherwise, the exterior shows pretty well. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gates all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory chrome wheels show well for their age and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread all around. The cargo area is accessed easily by the desirable barn doors. Please take your time to check out each of the photos carefully. The interior of this Astro would rate as BELOW AVERAGE for its age and mileage. The driver's door card is about as much duct tape as it is plastic and cloth. Despite this, the door opens and closes properly and all the buttons work...it just doesn't look pretty. The carpets are dirty and worn, as are the front seats. The back of the van looks pretty clean. The dash and headliner are clean. The power windows, locks and mirrors all work properly. The audio system is original and sounds good. The climate control system also appears to be working properly. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows cold air, too. I believe the fan only works on high, so it'll need a new resistor clip. Rear passenger area is spacious and accommodating. Behind the last row of seats is a generous amount of cargo room, thanks to the long wheelbase. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Astro appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.3L V6 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older van. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. There have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The engine makes good power and feels smooth. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. With just under 100k miles on the clock, this Astro is barely broken in. The interior could use a cleaning...but the important stuff feels like it's all there. If you're looking for a rock solid van, there is nothing better than a Chevy Astro...and they're getting harder and harder to find, especially with low miles. If you've been looking for an Astro that doesn't have a quarter of a million miles, this 97k mile example deserves your serious consideration. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
