1985 Honda VF1000R for sale. This is not a project bike. It runs, and some of the pictures are of a recent trip to Austin, a round trip of 200 miles. If you are looking at this auction, you know this is a collectible motorcycle. Motorcycle is ridden regularly and there are no known mechanical running problems. Starts right up. However, bike is being sold as is. Bike has the degree of age one might expect with something from the mid 80s. It is a head turner, I always get complimented on it. I don't want to sell it but life's about change, so my loss is your gain. Recently changed out instrument cluster due to dead speedometer, and the replacement speedometer was DOA, so it will need to be replaced. What you see is what you get. All sales are final, local pickup is required by buyer or you can coordinate a shipper and I will make myself available to be here when they show up. I am a high school math and science teacher with a lot going on so if I don't answer your inquiries immediately, don't get excited, I promise to respond within 24 hours. Rebuilt carbs were installed last year. Some of the pictures show the seat cowling removed because I can't give rides with it on, and I never liked it anyway. I assume that knowledgeable collectors would have noticed the fact based on the dual headlights, though I didn't. On Sep-19-17 at 07:44:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Final update. Rode the bike this morning. Started up with no problem. If you don't ride this bike regularly, you will get a bit of white smoke when it starts up, but it will dissipate after a few minutes. Rode it 50 miles with no problem.
