Vehicle Detail

While the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey is pelting us with an unprecedented amount of rainwater in and around Houston and most of us are sitting at home watching in awe the floodwaters rise, I have decided to offer for sale today a rare 1972 Honda CB750 that I have completely restored over a period of a year and a half. I found this Honda in a motorcycle salvage place a few years back looking for parts for my other projects. The bike wasn’t complete and missing among other things the body parts, tank, side covers, seat and of course the exhaust. But what was unique about it and let me quickly forget about the missing parts was the VIN Nr. of 2000010 and the matching Engine Nr. of 2000011. I have never come across something like this in my many years of playing with these beauties. So just to be clear you are bidding on the 10th motorcycle in the K2 production line with the 11th engine which is a true match. I thought it would be not only good measure but my duty to refurbish this motorcycle to its original glory. I don’t know what color it might have been originally but decided on the Custom Gold which was unique for that year. Not knowing what condition the engine was I decided to take a look and to refurbish the top end anyway which apart from the headwork and cylinder work included new Honda pistons and rings. The bike has a new clutch as well. After painstakingly restoring what was there and finding what was missing I put the bike back together including a new old stock pair of gauges which I came across several years ago and had on the shelf. The dilapidated gauges that where on the bike showed a mileage of 22,000. I have some photos of the bike before the restoration which show the gauges and the general condition of the motorcycle if someone is interested. I was not able to replace the turn signal buzzer because the rubber was just too hard but it has the original handlebar switch for it and would just have to be reinstalled. The bike has a set of very nice and original HM 341 exhaust on it which I had in my spare parts trove as well. The pipes are solid with no holes and chrome is in excellent condition overall with the exception of the top right pipe having only a little bit of surface rust rash on top. You only see it if you are right on top of it maybe 10”away. I had an extra seat for this year and replaced the mushy foam. It is very firm now maybe a little bit too firm. I also noticed with great distress that the seat cover is starting to show a little wear after 45 years by slightly separating a little maybe 1/8 of an inch right there where you sit and the most wear occurs. This cover is impossible to find as many of you know and if I kept the bike I would take the cover back off and reinforce it from below but probably keep the seat on the shelf and ride on an aftermarket seat which looks darn nice by the way for the money. The reason I would do this is because this is one of the best riding Honda CB750’s I have ever had in my possession. I rode it the 300 plus miles on the speedo and it runs like a dream. There is something about this particular motor it runs soft and quite like a sewing machine. The difference is very noticeable from other CB750’s. This engine is so well balanced and the parts inside work in absolute harmony together making it a pure pleasure to ride it. That too makes it rare and desirable in my opinion. Not often do you have this synchrony. I wouldn’t say one in a million but rare indeed. The bike turned out really nice and the pictures don’t do it justice. Bid with confidence on this rare opportunity of motorcycle history, you will not be disappointed. Feel free to ask meaningful questions I will try to answer them as best and as quickly as I can. I have a clear Texas title in my name. Good luck bidding...and I apologize for writing so much but it hasn't stopped raining
