2 owners, over $4,000 of new parts and maintenance done since 90,000 miles; car is in “safe mode/limp mode.” Engine, transmission, oil and coolant system running well. Details: Since purchase (at 89K miles) new: -Tires (wheels in good shape; black in picture is PLASTI dip that was only half peeled off) -Brakes and Rotors -Oil lines -Starter -Battery -Engine mount brackets -Coils and spark plugs I cared very much for the car and have done a lot of maintenance since purchasing it. I bought it in 2013 when I was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. When I deployed in 2016, I took it off the road and stored until I returned. Upon returning and trying to get back on the road (April 2017) I discovered the car is in “safe mode.” It’s very frustrating because the car seems to be running fine. It is idling well, the coolant and oil systems are working, the engine is fine and the transmission is working well. Bottom line is I now live in D.C. and no longer have the time to diagnose why the car is in safe mode. I took it to the dealer and they told me it is in safe mode related to the fuel pump wire harness (fault code). I am certain the fuel pump is working so may be an easy fix; when I was working on it in April, I had it running and drove it around the block for nearly 3 hours. The previous owner lived in northern Ohio so the body has rust on the under carriage. I ultimately had to replace the oil lines and starter because of rust.
