Vehicle Detail
1994 BMW R100GS – 109,000 km / 68,000 miles. I am the original owner, this bike has taken me on many adventures, but it is finally time to sell it because I’m just not getting enough riding in to justify keeping it. The bike is in very good mechanical condition – no mechanical issues to speak of – runs very strong, steady and smooth. Transmission was rebuilt at about 30,000 miles (output shaft bearing went – transmission professionally rebuild at Anderwerks / Calgary). New driveshaft at approximately 60,000 miles – absolutely no issues with rear drive splines / driveshafts. Tires are Metzeler Tourance – decent condition with good tread depth front and rear - however should probably now be changed due to the age of the tires. Wheels are straight and true. Cosmetically – Overall in very good cosmetic condition. The frame, battery tray and luggage racks were powdercoated at about 50,000 miles and they are in excellent condition overall, with the usual scuffing on the luggage racks from vibration. The black tank, front and rear fender and fairing paint is original – in good condition with one insignificant tank ding from handlebar contact and some tank bag scuffs on the top of the tank. Graphics are in very good condition – no fading to speak of. The yellow painted bush bar is slightly faded with some stone chips. The yellow painted lower splash guard is in decent condition with some stone chips, and a bit of plastic missing from the original mount location on one side (still solid). There are some scuffs on the original smoked windscreen. The aluminum engine and transmission casings show normal oxidation for a bike of this age, and there is some slight surface rust apparent on some bolts, spoke nipples, etc. Again, normal for the year of the bike. The backup battery in the IMO computer needs to be replaced (need to set time on startup). I have copies of all maintenance records, accessory manuals, bike manual, etc. which will all go to the new owner. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, I will do what I can to facilitate shipping – if you live somewhere interesting I may even be persuaded to take a few days off and deliver the bike. If you have any questions whatsoever on this bike, please email, I would be happy to answer your questions. I’m hoping this bike finds a good home, and will continue to serve its new owner well. The vehicle was manufactured in September 1993, this information is clearly marked on the VIN sticker on the frame, with the note that the vehicle conforms to Canadian motor vehicle standards as of that date. This makes the vehicle 23 years and 11 months old - in September, it will be 24 years old. There is no US DOT sticker or mention of compliance to United States motor vehicle standards. Please research import requirements if you are considering importing this vehicle into the United States from Canada. On 23-Aug-17 at 20:24:07 EDT, seller added the following information: Some further research indicates that it is not impossible to import a Canadian motorcycle to the United States - however you should retain the services of a "Registered Importer" to assist with the process and perform the required certifications, including changing the speedometer to one that reads in mph. Search for the following phrase on google and you'll find one person's experience with the process: "I was required to hire a registered ICC vehicle importer to handle all of the details. I hired a company from Hamburg, New York, to process all the paperwork."On 29-Aug-17 at 18:18:52 EDT, seller added the following information: Bike has been cleaned, side cases have been cleaned and installed on the bike. There is one side case liner by BMW - cleaned and installed in the bike with all original receipts and a binder of technical information on the bike - manuals for all accessories, photo copy of BMW service manual, etc. The original BMW tool kit is complete and installed above the battery with the electrical spares kit. There are three keys for the bike - the original standard key, the original flat folding key, and a replacement / spare flat folding key which operate the bike ignition, the steering lock, the seat lock and the side case locks (all keyed alike). If there are any further questions on the bike, let me know and I'll answer prior to the auction close tomorrow.
