Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a survivor 1976 Honda CB550 Four sporting it's original Candy Garnet Brown paint.... We all get tired of hearing it, and the term is certainly over used, no doubt, but this is a true barn find motorcycle, molested only by Father Time, and one incident with an elderly rider. It is in survivor condition, untouched in nearly 20 years and it just saw daylight for the first time in nearly 10 years. I purchased this bike at a swap meet from an elderly gentleman who was selling it because it had too much power for his riding skills, which were deteriorating with advancing age. I am not a motorcycle guy and purchased the bike to sweeten a package deal for a buddy who was dealing with the seller on some shop equipment. I sealed the deal with the old man, and then my buddy chickened out on his part of the deal because that's what friends do best, spend other people's money. I like the bike, but restore properly large finned cars from the 50's, and have decided to pass this bike on to a more deserving caretaker. I have been in possession of this bike for about 10 years I would guess, and it's just sat in the back corner of my shop the entire time. I am not an expert on Honda motorcycles nor do I pretend to be. The bike is mostly complete, except for the missing rear set of right side exhaust pipes. It is in unrestored condition and would make an excellent survivor restoration candidate, or project bike. The previous owner told me the story about why he parked the bike because he was scared of it after it got away from him and that appears to be consistent with some very light damage on the RH engine cover, a tweaked turn signal and a dinged headlight trim ring. Nothing serious, and in reality just normal wear and tear on a 41 year old motorcycle. The motor turns over and feels like it has compression. The throttle linkage moves firmly and freely. I have not tried to put a battery in it or gas to start it. The mileage showing on the odometer is 10,963 and without doubt is the actual mileage on the bike. The inside of the gas tank is clean and has one minor ding. Most everything right or wrong with the bike is visible in the photos. Study them carefully and bid accordingly. If you need better photo documentation, or have questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I have a valid Missouri title if you need one, but there will be a $200 title penalty assessed. Otherwise this motorcycle will be sold on a Bill of Sale. Depending on the final sale price I might be willing to negotiate on paying a portion of the title assessment. Payment: A $250 deposit to Paypal is required within 48 hours of auction close. I will accept wire transfers, bank or postal money orders, person checks, business checks, or cashiers checks with the proper clearing time. US funds drawn on US institutions only. You can have up to 30 days at auction close to pick-up in person, of have your shipper take possession of the bike. I can ship within 3 business days of auction close. This auction is for United States residents only. Absolutely no International bids accepted. They will be cancelled indiscriminately without question. I am still waiting for the guy from Morocco to stop by and pick up my non-running F-250 truck that he was the sole bidder on. Transportation: You can pick up your new motorcycle in person with a cash payment. You can arrange your own transportation and I will be willing to help as needed in that process. I can crate it for your shipper for a modest fee. As another option, I can crate this bike and ship it practically anywhere in the lower 48 USA for $150-$200. You will need to pick it up at a local terminal is the only caveat. Unless you are paying cash in person, the bike will not leave the premises until after the proper clearing time of your payment method. Bid Early. Bid Often. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Oh yeah, and don't bid on this auction if you have a feedback score of less that 10 or just joined e-bay in the last 30 days, unless you contact me in advance with some compelling argument that will convince me that you will follow through as a buyer. Cheers On Jul-14-17 at 16:56:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to clarify a few of the business particulars...... 1.) Final payment is requested to be made within 10 days of auction close. A $250.00 deposit through PayPal is required within 48 hours of auction close. 2.) Although it is buried somewhere in the fine print, this auction is restricted to the United States. As I can only ship to the Lower 48 United States, sadly, I have to exclude our friends in Alaska and Hawaii. 3.) I use Fastenal's 3PL shipping program. It's a quality service at a fraction of the price of LTL. Your freight terminal can be as close as your local Fastenal store (and there are a bunch of them). The $150-$200 price I mentioned in the listing is an approximation, but it's in the ball park unless you live in a major coastal metropolis. There is no crating charge if I do the shipping.
