Vehicle Detail
1986 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk S in rare blue/white/red color. It is one beautiful & sexy bike.Original owner, purchased 31 years ago. Seat has been custom reupholstered. Much much better then the stock seat. It has a new battery and starts right up. It has not been ridden in a couple years so It's in need of a full service (oil & filter change as well as brake & clutch bleeding). It has one problem: When the engine gets hot (20 min. of riding) the oil light flickers& a small oil leak appears at the shaft boot near the side stand. I have to pull over and let it cool before riding on. My research has concluded that the transmission has an internal oil leak going back along the shaft drive. I have purchased all the seals & gaskets required to repair the problem but don't have the space or tools to fix it. The bikes tach gauge finger has broken in 2 (which is common with this bike but RPM is still easily visible). There are areas of light rust visible in the pictures such as top of carb, mirror posts.Tank has a small dent on the top flat surface lower right side near seat that can be seen in some pics but not others depending on the light. Included with the bike:CoverClaw tire lockShop manualExtra Oil filter seals & gaskets to repair trans. leak.Original accessories - blue saddle bags & magnetic tank bag.Extra set of forks. (previously had a problem with a leaky fork seal & bought a pair of used forks. The mechanic replaced fork seals 1 more time & didn't need to use the extra forks. There there just in case.If you can do your own maintenance this bike is easy. For it's age it still looks beautiful & is one of the better looking ones out there. If you can even find one anymore. Wow, so I have seen another one of these listed & thought about any work I had done on my bike over the years. So here's an UPDATE:Replaced all the original blinker posts because they were dried out and cracked.Replaced a couple blinkers (I can't remember which ones). The outside of the rear fender-well where the blinker posts connect turned this blackish grey about five years after I bought it. I removed the fender-well & prep'd & painted it with gloss black plastic paint about 15 years ago. As seen in the pic it still looks better than new. The painted fairing above the fender-well has a crack on the right side corner just above the taillight. It started to travel so I removed the fairing, stop-drilled the crack & placed a fiberglass layer on the inside. Crack is no issue now but you can see the hole from the stop-drill.As can see from pics the red stripping on the tank is deteriorating & finally the paint at the bottom edge of the front fender is deteriorated.
