Look If you are coming from back east to take this back home in as is condition? No way!...It drives great locally but If it were me and I were planning a trip back east? I would take the time to "Degrease" the entire engine, upgrade this van by changing all fluids, gaskets, especially oil pan, valve cover gaskets, axle bearings and seals, all belts and hoses. Do a radiator flush, new thermostat, new water pump (rebuilt is OK). Change out the tranny fluid and rear axle gear oil. Add new tire rubber (used tires can be had cheap with good rubber). tune it up with a timing and points, refurbish the floor as explained in listing, bolt down the other seats (driver seat only bolted down). That's the basics I would do before I would go on a trip that far and miles? Hey its a 42 year old van, solid as they come, These twin I -beam axle Vans were built tough, its a frame/body unit, you could slap seats on this thing without the body and drive it everywhere, I kid not. "FORD TUFF"..But I have never driven over mountains with this van and going east from here you got MOUNTAINS to cross!.....If you are mechanically inclined like me and can do all the above yourself and weld some and you get by cheap being resourceful on your bucket list for parts? It would easily be very possible to drive anywhere. My intentions were to do this very same thing but over say 2 or 3 years while driving it local, using weekends and such to get it pretty restored, going over everything top and bottom and I am retired? To hop in this and go east like it is? I say not. So that is my opinion, it would need work before a trip like that. I am selling since my plans changed and I have other directions now. It needs a good home truly not many of these around. I have had many an offer local to gut her for the 351 Windsor motor and rearend for $1000.00 by hotrod guys, it be a shame indeed. ....Good bidding ...Good build
