Vehicle Detail
Greetings, Please read this entire description before placing an offer or using the buy it now. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. The picture of the complete bike is not representative of the bike's current condition. It is there for reference only demonstrating the desirable silver original color. If you don't like the buy it now price please feel free to make an offer you can live with. See the payment and shipping terms below. This is a Very Collectible, Numbers Matching, 1975 BMW R90/6 that I bought with the intention of restoring. An injury is going to prohibit that from happening anytime soon so on the block it goes. I will describe the bike here to the best of my ability. I'm a BMW guy myself and have been riding these bikes for 40 years. I bought the bike in the exact condition as shown. The bike had been sitting for 30 years having been owned by yet another Airhead guy. He died and the bike was, yes, you guessed it, in a barn... The engine turns over freely. The frame, forks, and swingarm do not appear to have been damaged or bent. The rear wheel is in decent shape as is the front Lester. The 5 speed appears to shift through all the gears and does not seem to be damaged. Front fender, tank, and rear fender are all in good shape however paint would be required unless you're after the aged patina look. The tank has the original red liner mostly intact and does not have audible rust when shaken. Seat is there and an excellent candidate for a simple recover. They are still available from BMW. The tach, speedo, and guages are present and complete. The original Lufmeister Faring is in decent shape as are the Wixom bags however I would caution using the Wixoms without going over them. The speedo shows 25k. The bike was only in use from 1975-1985 being last registered in 85' and parked. The owner had several BMW's so I would assume the mileage is original. Tool tray is there, The original Bing's are also there. All the wiring along with the handlebar switches, electronics, coils, diodes, and relays are all there and appear in good shape. The silencers are condition unknown. The bike will inevitably be missing some nuts and bolts, etc. All the expensive and hard to find stuff is there. The tank, engine and transmission are worth the asking price themselves. These bikes are fast becoming scarce. A reasonably clean r90/6 with low miles is commanding in excess of $6k and rising. I was going to sell the Wixom's along with the Luftmeister faring to recoup a fair amount for the resto. This is a project. It would be unreasonable to expect to buy it to drop off at the dealer for a makeover. This is best for another Airhead guy or gal or someone with the itch. With some sweat equity I feel the bike could be put back on the road very reasonably. Many feel this is the best aircooled motorcycle BMW ever made. It's not a bad choice for a full restoration project. Title - The bike will be sold on a State of Georgia Notarized Bill of Sale. I am a Georgia Resident and we don't have titles for bikes this old in our state. I have sold other bikes from here to as far as California without issue however please do take this into consideration. Thanks Full payment within 24 hours of auction end. The bike can be picked up in greater Toledo Ohio area on the 4-6 of April or anytime after 15th of April. No shipping, the bike must be picked up and shipped at the buyer's expense.
