Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is a very limited edition 1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC White Lightning. From what I was able to find out through extensive research, only 23 of these were produced by the Roll-A-Way company in Placentia, CA. They were sold through Lincoln Mercury dealers in California. Actually, there was a black version as well called the Midnight Mark. I believe there were only 23 done in total between the black and white versions. This survivor is rare. White Lightning editions had no chrome trim. Everything was in white (see original ad). Also, original BBS white wheels were included. These are actual BBS wheels not the later Lincoln look-a-likes. There is no badging on the outside of the car, but the interior is all LSC with the sport seats, badging, and analog gauges. It has the HO 5.0 engine. This car has been verified as an original White Lightning based on photographs provided to the Lincoln Mark VII Club. I also have the Marti Report that shows that the car was originally sold in Costa Mesa California at Johnson and Son Lincoln Mercury, which was about 20 miles from the Roll-a-Way company facility. The condition of this car is fair. That being said, it is extremely solid and there is hardly any rust on the car and no rot. This was a California car until it was brought to Massachusetts about four years ago. It runs and drives good. The interior is in decent shape but the front driver’s seat is quite worn and could be redone. Back seat is good. Passenger seat is good. Rug is clean. Dash is clean, no cracks. Power windows, seats, antenna and trunk all work. The car has small dents in both rear panels, on the driver’s side wheel well and minor ones on the trunk. See pics. Also, the back-up light panel is busted, but a replacement is included (of course the chrome will need to be painted white!). The car has almost new tires and a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system. Brakes are good. It could use a tune up. It needs a good Arctic White paint job. The BBS wheels are in great shape, though one has a bit of a gouge on the side (shown). This car has 182,222 miles. The air suspension works except for the air bag on the driver’s side rear, which deflates when the car is off. Once the car is started, it works fine. Included in the auction are four replacement air bags, new shocks, and some other parts. The brake lights and horn currently don’t work. Radio works. A/C works though the original switch on the dash has been replaced by a switch on the side of the dash for some unknown reason. But it works. When I bought the car I was told there was a trunk leak. When I got it home and dug into it the rug was wet, and looked like in places it had been wet for some time. I pulled all of the carpet and was expecting to see a rusty trunk underneath. Good news, no rust at all on the trunk floor, it was clean (see pic). I have replacements for some of the trunk rug pieces. The only rust is right under the back window, where I suppose the leak is coming from. This will need to be addressed. Also, the sunroof does not work and there is a spot of rust on the roof (see pic). This was to be a father son project that was sidetracked. I hate to see it go, as it is such a unique car and quite possibly one of only a few White Lightning left out there. It is a rare car. I have tried to be honest in my description. For someone mechanically inclined that can do some minor body work and the wiring, this would be a great project. It is roadworthy as is (outside of the brake lights and horn) though and in fact was registered and driven up until this spring. This car will have no reserve and will go to the highest bidder. A $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction close. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping or pick-up. Contact me for more pictures. Thank you!
