1983 Mercedes Benz Roadster for sale: NO RESERVE. Car starts and idles, but will not accelerate. Car had been parked for a couple of years before I bought it. My online Mechanic says symptoms are probably a stuck fuel distributor or plugged warm-up regulator. Here are his comments: "Fuel pressure is critical on the CIS injection system. Anytime these cars sit for a long time the warm up regulator and the fuel distributor usually need replacing. What you are describing is either a pluggged warm up regulator or a stuck plunger in the fuel distributor." Anyway, I have another project in my garage and I still have too many projects in my driveway...and winter is coming, so I need to sell this one. The overall condition of the car is very solid. The seats need attention, and the body has parking-lot dents, and faded paint. The convertible top is in pretty decent shape, and the spare tire appears to be the factory original tire and wheel. The tires are all Michelen's with lots of tread, but are older tires. I have only found a spot of rust by the gas tank where the paint must have gotten scratched many years ago. The floorboards and rockers are solid. The owners manual and service manual are still in the glove box and show service work and ownership starting in Texas, then California. Mileage at 106k appears to be correct. Battery was replaced recently and is very strong. The picture of the dash was taken with the car running at idle. You will note healthy oil pressure and no dash lights even at a 400 RPM idle. That's about all I know about this sporty little Mercedes. I have reviewed my add several times to be sure that I have fairly represented this car so the buyer will be happy. (Of course, this is a really inexpensive Mercedes, and you know it needs work.) However, you may not be able to tell from the pictures, but the chrome on the wheels is lifting. These are aluminum wheels, and chrome does not adhere to aluminum very well, so this problem is very common. However, you may not have seen this, as I don't have any really close pics of the wheels.
