For sale is my 1997 Mercedes Benz Roadster SL500 Sport with the 40th Anniversary AMG package in classic Brilliant Silver. It has the AMG front, rear and side spoilers, AMG wheels and the sport logos on the sides.The car is a legendary car in the traditional Silver color with grey leather interior, which is in exceptional condition. This is a collectors' car but one that you can also drive freely / daily and that has more power than one might think, due to 347 ft/lbs of torque and 315 hp. It handles great and cruises comfortably all day at 80 mph plus, and with that torque a quick press on the gas and the car quickly pulls away from the flow of traffic. This torque is what gives the surge of power even at high speed.It is in exceptional and remarkable condition:It has 81,500 miles on the clock (that is 4,200 miles per year!) I am the 2nd owner and have had the car since 2001, bought out of lease, and babied it. It has been an absolutely reliable car. It has always been garaged and carefully maintained. Most of the servicing was done by my mechanic at Hauer's German Car Service (who just retired).Condition - I will give as many details as I can:Fluids have always been changed at correct intervals, it has always been run on synthetic motor oil without exception, a full transmission service, fluid and filter change has just been done.The main A/C hose was recently replacedAll shocks were recently replacedIdler pinion was replaced (a BIG job . . .and the old one was found to have been actually fine!) Steering damper was also replaced.Rotors and brakes were replaced about 5,000 miles agoAll hydraulic cylinders for the convertible roof have been recently replaced and the system was reconditionedTires are about 70%Soft top is in excellent condition and the window is clear with no signed of fade or clouding. Hard top is in perfect condition with a recently replaced headliner. All the widows including the hardtop have been professionally tinted.I will include a hard top lift and winch that can be mounted to your garage roof to lift and store the hard top when not in use. Included is the wind deflector which is in perfect condition.Engine bay is very clean and almost spotless.Engine sounds very tight and clear of unusual sounds, ditto for the transmission - no whining or rough shifting.The car handles incredibly and sticks to the road, the suspension is firm and what you would expect from the sport enhancements of this car.No oil leaks.Original service records, Books and manualPlease note. . .-There is a scuff on the front left bumper cover where somebody touched it with the side of their car door; it removed some paint - There was no denting and I had it quickly repainted, but they didn't do a great job and it is noticeable. Please see the photo.-Driver headrest does not move up and down electronically although all the other seat controls are perfect on both seats.-The remote key does work, but it eats through batteries so I just operate it by traditional key.
