Vehicle Detail
I've had this Jeep for 3 years and have kept it clean and serviced, but now I've got a new SUV and don't want to invest the time or money into fixing some things. If you are mechanically inclined and have the time, this would be a perfect and easy project. It failed it's recent Virginia inspection and emissions, and I just let it sit, before making the decision to let it go. KBB says a fair condition 2002 Jeep Liberty is worth $2,500+. I'll let this one go for $2,000 or best offer. Here's full and honest disclosure-- The BAD:- Needs all new brakes and rotors. Discs in the front, drums in the back (reason why it failed inspection)- Needs new exhaust system from the Y pipe all the way down (reason it failed emissions)- Sometimes the transmission "pops" around 30 mph when auto shifting. I completely drained and replaced transmission filter and fluid about 3 years ago and I really think this might be a minor problem that can be fixed by "relearning" the transmission through the onboard computer.- Heat doesn't work. Heater core needs replacing (very common problem in Jeeps). This can sometimes cause a coolant leak, but not always (strange).- Airbag warning light comes on in hot weather/summer months (another reason it failed inspection). NOTE: This MAY be fixable through a Jeep recall, but not certain. I replaced the passenger's side sensor about 2 years ago myself, and the light stopped showing up, but now it's back so I assume it's the driver's side sensor this time. Cost is $70 online and takes 2 screws to replace vs. $400 at dealership.- Sunroof doesn't open - off track- Small leak in weatherstripping along driver side door jam, leaving damp floor below driver's seat in very heavy rains. The GOOD:- 4x4 works great (proven in this past winter's snow here in northern Virginia)- AC is cold- New Goodyear tires put on last year, then it failed inspections and sat, so tires have barely been used!- No problems with steering or suspension- Oil changed regularly- Radio/CD player and speakers work great- Seats are in good shape- Interior is CLEAN and in great shape for 14 years old.- Exterior body and paint are in good shape for 14 years. A few scrapes and scratches, but no dents or major problems.- Fairly low miles for 14 years (142k).That's everything I know -- the Good, the Bad, but no Ugly ;)Sold As-Is (obviously), but if you're mechanically inclined and have the time, this is a good Jeep for a good price!
