High and low you've searched. Saab story here, overpriced cracked up Saab there. The local stealership didn't even want you to open the doors on the one on the back row....that one was garbage anyway. Not this one. Unmolested. Unmodified. Bone Stock. I realize that the 9-3 came in many flavors. As you know, the Aero would be the top of the food chain in the lineup. Even better...this is the 2.0 Turbo version as opposed to the problematic turbo V6. Granted the V6 is tons o' fun as long as it's not squeezing oil out everywhere...or misfiring because nobody bothered to keep up on the maintenance. Then there's this 6-speed version here....in the flesh. Before you Saab purists start fist pounding about using the term "RARE" on this car....feel free to run the production numbers. My searches show 29,323 total 9-3s in 2004. Of that, 1171 were 6-speed manuals...then....because I don't know the EXACT version of blue on this car....there were a whopping...90 Blue manual sedans made in 2004. Does this info make it car show material?? Not really. But it DOES make it.....Rare. The exterior is an easy 8+ out of 10. After a professional buff, it would easily be a 9. Altho my inspections don't show any body damages or major repairs, the front and rear bumper covers have been repainted and match perfectly. BOTH could still use a proper wetsand and buff to smooth out the paint imperfections. Otherwise no signs of any major repairs or repaints. No accidents on the 3 owner AutoCheck. Shockingly the lower front spoiler isn't damaged at all save for a few nicks that have been touched up. Usually this piece is torn off or broken beyond repair. Note it's the proper Aero version and not a lesser 9-3 replacement. Rockchips are also at a minimum on the nose and hood. Headlights are super clear with minimal cloud. No cracks or damages. Vinyl trim around the car is near perfect....no fading or damages. Hood and roof shine very well. I can count a handful of tiny dings on the entire car but are hard to see unless you look for em. All easily dentbusted if desired. Upon your arrival to pickup your new toy, you won't find a single nick, scratch or flake on any of the wheels (rain spotted those rotors btw). Why?? They have all been professionally refinished. Only thing better is brand new! You will also notice that ALL the Cooper Tires have in excess of 80+% tread left and are evenly worn. Right front is a nearly new Continental. Of course they all are vibration free at any speeds. While driving, you will enjoy how tight and smooth the suspension is with no unusual pulling or wandering over any pavements. No popping, rattles or looseness. But...."what about the brakes?" you ask?? Of course those are vibration free. No pulsing or grinding and have been recently replaced...so recent, there is minimal brake dust buildup leaving the markings on the pads nearly readable as if they just came from a box. You can see how nice the body panels are. The rear bumper cover shows the only eyesores on the car. These are only visible once you stand over the top of the trunk area. Looks as if a parking lot biff since it's mainly a paint crease. It's been touched up at least. Above that, if you stare hard enough, you can see a small dent in the trunk lid edge. It blends in as if it were a normal body seam. Chicken legs reflection shows it's beautiful shine. Above and below are the 2 largest (??) deep scratches to point out. Grab some matching touchup paint....problem solved. Ahhh.....the Aero specific interior....this one an easy 8 out of 10. I HATE smoke and can't see or smell any signs of a former smoker. The carpet looks great. No holes or major stains. Doorpanels look great. Aside some excessive driver's bolster wear, the leather looks great. No holes, tears or punctures. Rear seating looks barely used. Above and below you can see that ALL the dummy lights illuminate upon startup with NONE staying on during run. The ONLY random info "light" to come on is the Tire Pressure monitor....or in this case "Tyre"! As you know, the GM design of the silly air pressure monitors were unreliable. I just do it the old fashioned way...with my eyes and a gauge. Much more reliable and responsible. Of course you can try the reset pattern and replace the bad sensors if desired. Above you can see the fully optioned Aero comes with HomeLink buttons for your garage doors, the auto fade rearview and digital compass. Below....note the info panel and the "DTE"...distance to empty. I point this out because I have acquired a few Saabs over the years and know the Saab stories. One being the fuel level sending unit fails. Your immediate sign is an empty fuel gauge AND the "DTE - - -". Then of course you add fuel and the level never changes. Not the end of the world as a buyer but it costs a bit to get the sending unit replaced, labor wise. Clearly this car dosn't have this problem. Also note the display pixels on all displays aren't burnt out. Finally..."Checking" and "Check OK" are the things a buyer loves to see upon startup!! Look at this piece of interior gold above!!! A fully functioning unbroken cupholder!!! Buttons aren't worn. Displays readable. Steering wheel is unworn. Shift knob and boot look great. ALL the power items work as they should: power windows, locks and sunroof, heated power front seating, AM/FM/CD player with OnStar, phone input means you can probably hook up a BlueTooth unit, cruise, info panels, ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, Hot Heat, dual digital climate controls, etc! Only one working keyfob and base factory manuals are included. Complete factory floormats are included along with both front and rear license plate frames, ready to bolt on as needed. Unseen is the spare tire setup ready for your roadtrip home. Oh...random....but the parking brake works properly too! The AC was running while I was snapping these pics. Note the foggy cold glass above! Below you can see the worn spots on the driver's bolster. The engine compartment is clean enough to eat off of. Not all greased up with shine and hide. Recent Interstate battery fires the perfectly running engine right up. Saab motors weren't known to be quiet, but this one runs nice and smooth. No knocking or atypical noises. Oil is clean as if it came from a bottle. Coolant is spotless. Brand new spark plugs have been installed by yours truly. Under the car I found some typical residual buildup from frisky oil change "technicians" spilling the cartridge oil filter and not cleaning it properly, but other than that, no signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. No spots on my shop floor overnight. No spots after sitting in my garage for over a week. Turbo spools right up and pulls all the way to redline. Exhaust is quiet. Clutch operates as it should with no slipping or chattering. Every gear shifts as it should with no grinding or popping out. The Saab transmission setup was actually superior to the GM versions. Just a hint in case you are on the fence about buying a Cobalt SS or Redline Ion and plan to go the performance route. For the records, if you haven't come to this conclusion...this car is unmolested and unmodified....but it IS ready to go!! Inspect my excellent feedbacks.
