Vehicle Detail

1987 Porsche 944 coupe, normally aspirated 2.5 litre Porsche 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission. An exceptional example of "The Affordable Porsche". Black with tan interior, has the optional leather front seats. I've owned it for ten years and I believe I'm the fourth owner. The two previous owners were brothers. 202,000 miles, but don't let that number dissuade you. Over the last three years, it has undergone a mechanical restoration by the owner/enthusiast (me), who is also an ASE certified Master Technician with over 30-years of experience. The engine has been overhauled with new rod and main bearings, rings, balance shaft bearings, water pump, gaskets and seals. Timing and balance shaft belts have 10,000 miles on them. The clutch assembly is new. The motor mounts have been replaced. The steering rack has been rebuilt, new ball joints have been installed. The air conditioning compressor was rebuilt, the receiver drier was replaced, and the system was flushed and upgraded to the new R134a refrigerant. Synthetic lubricants have been used throughout since the engine break-in period. The interior is original, and in remarkably good condition, with no tears and only very light cracking in the leather; the doors panels are very good. The radio is the original Blaupunkt Charleston, and the hinge for the console door is new. On the outside, the few dings were worked out a couple of years ago, and it was resprayed with a high quality single-stage polyurethane enamel. The "PORSCHE" decal on the back and the stone guards around the wheel wells were all replaced at that time. The "Phone Dial" wheels have been stripped and powder-coated, making them corrosion resistant and easy to keep clean. A Colorado car from new, it's never had rust. The windshield, correct with the inter-laminate radio antenna, is less than a month old. The little gears for the sunroof, which always dry out and crack with age, are new, and the sunroof tilts and unlocks for removal with no issues. I'm sure there is more that I just don't remember. With all that's been done, this car is ready for the next 30-years and 200,000 miles. This car is unusually complete, and comes with the original tool kit, inflatable spare tire, sunroof bag and retractable cargo area cover. Comes with high quality, custom fit floormats that may have been installed by the dealer. The original owners and maintenance manuals are in their original pouch, along with the card of the salesman who first sold the car out of Pioneer Porsche-Audi in Aurora, CO. It has the optional alarm system and wheel locks with the key that fits both. This is not a garage queen, but has been my daily driver at times. Don't think that buying a low mileage original will get you a better car. These cars are 25- to 35-years old now, and seals, motor mounts and other components will fail much earlier than they will on this car. It's not perfect; the lower part of the front air dam is a little tatty, the rear hatch window has worked loose from it's frame at the top where the hinges are, a Coverlay covers the cracked dash. The paint has some blemishes, about what a 3-year old car would acquire. The car still looks really good and regularly garners compliments and approving looks. And as good as it looks, it drives even better, about what you'd expect from a Porsche with less than 15,000 miles since the engine and front suspension have been restored. The Porsche engine is smooth with great low-end torque, the transmission shifts quietly and without any balkiness. With a light foot on the throttle, it gets over 450 miles to an 18-gallon tank (over 25mpg) in mostly city driving. No warranty, car is sold as. Down payment of $500.00 is due within 24-hours of auction close. Down payment may be made through PayPal, but the remainder of the balance must be cash, certified cashier's check or United States Postal Service money order. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick up or shipping. These cars aren't getting any younger or easier to find. And they're not going down in value. I've enjoyed this car for many years and miles, but I have too many projects, and it's time for this one to find it's next happy owner. The reserve is set pretty low, so don't be afraid to bid. Don't miss your chance on getting an excellent example of these appreciating cars! Thanks for looking! On Jun-22-16 at 07:11:07 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: As of 07:10 PDT, 6-22-2016, reserve is now set $1 above the current bid ($2750.00). This one's gonna sell, folks. If you want it, BID!
