2000 Jaguar XKR Supercharged Convertible Titanium Beauty with Shadowy Past Looking for Soulmate 66,450 miles. Gorgeous in Titanium over Oatmeal Leather. Bids start at $7500. NO RESERVE. This smashing but slightly shady lady was delivered sparkling and brand new in 1999 to Hornburg Jaguar in West Hollywood. Due to a youthful indiscretion, she ran off with the first buyer who flashed a roll of cash and she ended up with a California salvage title. But that was a long time ago. Now she is all grown up and fully rehabilitated. With the years, she has only grown more smashing and she is still really well built. She's looking for a new owner, the current one has grown kind of fusty and this lady likes to run. Yes, she still has a wild side, and needs a steady hand at the wheel, but she promises to devote herself body and soul to the next lucky titleholder. Vroom, vroom. VEHICLE HISTORY: This XKR had very low miles on it when it was involved in a front-end collision in 2002. After repairs, it was issued a California salvage title. The salvage title transferred to Washington state when the third owner acquired the car in 2005 at 48,000 miles. For reasons unknown, the Oregon DMV did not issue a salvage title when title transferred to the fourth and current owner (me) at 65,000. The car is sold with a clear Oregon title with no brands on it. RECEIPTS/DOCUMENTATION The vehicle is sold with complete receipts. The receipts for the collision repair show that only new components from the Jaguar dealer (Galpin Jaguar in Van Nuys, CA) were used to put the car back together. Airbag, sensor and module were replaced with factory new items. Additionally, the body and paint work was performed by a licensed Jaguar shop. VEHICLE CONDITION This Jaguar is in superb condition. It fires up instantly, offers a supple and luxurious ride, goes like a rocket (370 hp/387lbs) handles adroitly and tracks straight and true. The only inoperative item on the car is the electric antenna, which does not go up or down, though the radio still brings in stations with no problem (CD player in the trunk). There are no other issues with this car. All else -- suspension, mechanical, electronics, A/C, climate and sound systems, all power accessories including the convertible top -- operate as designed. The engine, transmission, and rear end deliver smooth and faultless performance. The third owner reported to me no collision-related problems in his 11 years of ownership. Before I bought the car I had a professional inspection of the mechanicals, suspension, body and chassis, which confirmed that all the repairs were done correctly. Prospective buyers are encouraged to review the repair receipts, order a carfax, and have the car inspected by a representative or shop. PROBLEM AREAS RECTIFIED One of the downsides of used luxury high-performance car ownership is purchasing a once expensive vehicle at a bargain price and then discovering the horrors of deferred maintenance and the astronomical cost of putting things right. Here is a list of known problem areas in the XK8/XKR which in this car have already been fixed. Oil-leaks at the valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket have been rectified. The failure-prone Nikasil cylinder liners were replaced with steel liners by the factory after engine number 0008181043. This car was built with the steel liners, engine number PA9909220418. Additionally, the letter A precedes the last five digits of the VIN, indicating a steel liner car. The bulk head seal at the transmission is known to leak and be expensive to repair. This car's seal was replaced at 45,000, and the fully-serviced transmission is leak free. The convertible top hydraulic lines tend to burst at the front headliner, as this car's lines did, and were replaced at 61,776. The coolant reservoir always splits at the seam, this one was replaced at 66,000. Of major importance are the condition of the timing chain tensioners. This car had its upper and lower tensioners updated, upper and lower timing chains and guide rails replaced, and a new water pump at 45,094 miles. OWNER ENHANCEMENTS The third owner spent many additional thousands of dollars on some stylish improvements to a Jaguar already oozing style. Upgrades include an 05 style nose (bumper cover), mesh grill, fog lights and rocker sills, a repaint to blend it all in, lowered ride height with new high-performance springs and Bilstein struts (the original CATS system springs and struts come with the sale) handsome new modular wheels, new W-rated tires and a new high-performance supercharger pulley that boots in an extra 10-15 horsepower. The exhaust system was subtly modified and the car announces itself in no uncertain terms. The melodious V8 burble through dual 3'.5" outlets is a thrilling cross between European refinement and burly American muscle. Oil changes always observed. New fuel pumps at 59,615, replaced engine control and security locking modules at 65,447, and a new heavy-duty battery installed a few dozen miles later. The car also has a trickle charger set up. I sometimes don't drive it for weeks, but with this system, the vast electronics that never sleep will never run the battery flat. IS SHE READY TO GO? Ready and willing. Bids start at $7500.
