Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1986 Porsche 944 NA. I've owned it for a little less than a year and it has been a great and fun car to own and drive! Unfortunately I don't have much motivation to enjoy it like I did when I got it. The body is in fair shape, showing it's 30 years of dings and road scars but does present well, not long after owning the 944 I restored the fading single stage paint job with a lot of elbow grease, which as you can see in the photos did pay off; the guards red is in nice shape but again, does have 30 years worth of nicks, chips, and scratches. I do believe that the hood at one point was repainted as it seems to be a basecoat/clearcoat paint versus the single stage on the rest of the car. Inside the car sports it's original leather seats - in a light tan/beige color, an aftermarket stereo - the head unit is done nicely but the speakers in the rear deck are probably not the way I'd have done it!, it could use a good deep cleaning on the carpet and the drivers seat should be recovered due to tears and cracking. The dashboard also has some minor cracking starting around the defrost vents and the leather shifter boot isn't the prettiest. Luckily the odometer still operates and shows 80,365* miles and the cruise control attempts to work but if my troubleshooting is correct it needs the control module under the column replaced. The air conditioning is non functional and would need retrofitted from R12 to R134a but the system is still in tact. Under the hood is the SOHC 2.5L L4 which does leak some oil (I think at last check it had leaked 1/4 quart in a 3k mile oil change interval) but runs just fine. I have deleted the power steering due to leaking from nearly every orifice (disassembled rack, removed valving, packed with grease) but I did retain the parts in case the new owner wanted to reseal the system and put it back on, also when I plugged the rack I installed a grease zerk in one of the plugs to add some level of serviceability in the future. Back to the engine the previous owner claimed to have had the timing belt replaced in the last year - rougly 5-6,000 miles ago, but I was never given any paperwork or proof to attest to that but the water pump did look newer. The only other issue I can think of with the engine is that the J boot tore when I removed it to clean the throttle body last fall, it's taped up but not quite of 'Cars and Coffee' quality. It is sporting a fresh oil change and oil cooler seals as well as a brand new battery! I do believe I need to swap the old oil pressure sending unit back onto the car as the used unit I replaced it with is showing max oil pressure at cold idle (I replaced it because I suspected it to be leaking but I think it may have been power steering fluid) or it may be possible that I grabbed the wrong OPRV O ring but I would imagine that if it were truly getting max oil pressure it would have blown the filter off. The transmission and clutch do function the last time I checked but the transaxle does like to leak although it isn't a lot, just messy! It will need a new slave cylinder since it does leak, I had to add fluid to the resivour every other week or so from the leak. Other than that I can't think of or remember any other issues in the driveline. The suspension and brakes work as they should with the only issues being one of the front pad sensor harnesses was damaged but that section of the harness should come with a new sensor. The other issue is the front passenger sway bar bushing tragically drowned in power steering fluid and needs replaced. Lastly the car needs an alignment as the toe is a bit off from having the rack out. The wheels are the cookie cutter style and could use refinished to be show worthy and the tires aren't quite garbage but aren't very great either. The car comes with some extra parts, including the aforementioned power steering parts and oil pressure sender, an HID kit that was on the car when I got it, a Lindsey Racing short throw shifter and oil filter spindle (to use a more common 3/4-16 threaded oil filter), some small parts (old lenses, extra digital clock), and any other parts I can find in my garage related to or from the Porsche! If you're looking for a mostly stock 944 to both enjoy and tinker with I believe you are looking at a great car to pick up, I will miss this car but I unfortunately have too many projects and just plain don't have the time nor drive to enjoy this majestic ride like I've done previously. If you have any questions or need more pictures send me a message with your email (if you're needing pictures, otherwise no need for that) and I'll get with you as soon as I can! Asking $5,000 obo in Indianapolis, IN 46214 (about 2-3 miles west of I-465 off of IN 136, or 2 miles east of Lucas Oil Raceway Thank you for looking! *It was brought to my attention that the VIN check showed the car having over 90k in the early 90's so I believe the original cluster was broken at some point swapped over for the current one, I think the actual mileage on the car is 140-150k miles ALSO as of 5/25 I changed the oil pressure sending unit and the gauge is still not operating properly and may be shorted somewhere as the gauge reading is at maximum engine off or on but the low pressure warning lamp turns off upon engine start
