Vehicle Detail

1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertable. I am the third owner. The last one owned it for 38 years. There are LOTS of positives and only a few negatives on this car. 1.) Top is very good to excellent (pictures) 2.) Paint is in excellent shape for a 43 year old car. Was repainted about 10 years ago and still shines and really stands out. 3.) Has VERY little rust issues. The only thing I have been able to find is SURFACE rust next to one of the front struts. (pictured) Floor pans all good, battery area (beneath rear seat) shows NO rust. Under front storage area (spare) is in excellent condition. All rubber and gaskets seem to be in great shape. 4.) Over $12,000 restoration completed about 10 years ago. (picture) I have the documentation of the repairs. 5.) A little over a year ago the car was gone over mechanically and at that point the following was replaced or repaired (picture): Wheel cylinders, brake master cylinder, front and rear brakes, 1 brake drum, steering damper, fuel pump, wipers and had a Missouri State inspection performed. I have documentation showing the repairs. 6.) Tires are very good. Battery was just replaced. 7.) Chrome is spectacular except for left rear, where there is a trim piece missing and small bend from backing into something.(pictures). Flaws on the car: Not very many but here is what I know: 1.) Radio inoperable; Believe me you would have replaced it anyway (think 70's transistor radio). 2.) Small driver's rear bumper defect (pictured) 3.) Headliner is beginning to droop in the rear but does not affect driveability or visability. 4.) There is no rear boot for the top. (not a flaw but just wanted to let you know) It is not necessary (the boot) to drive with the top down. 5.) This is a 43 year old car. It shimmies a bit at some speeds, but it drives as it should. The point is that that this is a classic, fun to drive eye catcher, but don't expect it to drive like a new car, because you will be disappointed. 6.) The windshield has a crack in it but it is not in the drivers view. 7.) Please consider the pictures as part of the description in case I have unintentionally missed something. PLEASE ask if you have any questions and I will answer them as honestly as I can. This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction early. It is priced locally for a little higher than the buy it now price, $6900.
