Vehicle Detail
I am selling my '69 Pontiac Firebird. She's currently tagged and inspected and on the road here in Texas. Pontiac 350/350 trans. Right now I use her as a daily driver because I live in a downtown urban area and don't drive long distances to get anywhere. Clear blue Texas title in my name. Runs strong, drives strong. Here's a quick rundown of pros and cons to give you an idea of what you would be getting into with this car:Pros------ Drivetrain is done. It's got some improvements that could be made, such as replacing the fan switch from an under dash unit that must be manually toggled on to something automatic. The fan itself is a very nice aluminum double-fan unit and radiator. Nice stuff. Other than that, she runs and drives very well. Always take a few times turning it over to start up, but once she fires she's golden. Drives great as well. - Interior is halfway done. It was originally some kind of Pontiac green-on-green color combo, ext and int, but since then the last owner starting changing it over to the classic all-black interior. Dash pad and headliner are installed, and it comes with the seat covers and carpet to finish the interior in all black.- All glass is good.- Good PMD wheels and Eagle GT II tires with plenty of tread left.- New gas tank.Cons------- It needs body work. Yes, when you drive it, you will definitely turn heads (one of my favorite things about driving this car) as it does look good from 10 feet, but when you really get up on it, you'll notice that the previous owner did a lot of "backyard" body and paint. Don't get me wrong, it's in totally functioning shape -- in fact, I've never gotten anything but compliments driving it. But it does clearly have some rust in the usual places for these cars that has basically been patched up, but the cancer was not cut out and replaced, and I want to be honest upfront so that anyone looking to "finish" this car correctly knows to be prepared for that kind of work. That's the car in summary. I wanted to give as many fine details as possible, but note that I did not build this car. I bought it from the previous owner, slapped some new front coils on her, and was on my way. Simply be aware that this car is a daily driver project, and that I have done no body and paint myself since I've owned it. I've got another car I'm doing a full resto on and bought this one simply to drive.I'm sure there are plenty of little things with an old car like this that I have left out. With any classic like this, it must be seen in person to really get a feel for. Feel free to email me with any further questions and I will try my best to answer them!
