Vehicle Detail
Selling a 1980 Triumph Spitfire. Bought as a project and didn't have the time. Read on for full details. I have tried to be as complete and fair as possible in the description. This is not a car to jump in and drive, but it is a great first project, with a solid tub and good motor, and parts are amazingly cheap. Details: -Drivetrain: car runs, but roughly. It has an aftermarket Weber DGV that could use a rebuild. Transmission is good - shifts smoothly through all four gears, and reverse. I put in a new alternator, and the battery and starter both look recently replaced. Rear differential weeps a bit, but not severely. No whine from the back that I can detect. Exhaust system needs replacing. -Brakes: I replaced the brakes on all four corners with new parts from Moss: new calipers, rotors and pads up front, new cylinders, shoes, springs and drums in back. Also replaced most of the lines (I have the rest but haven't put them in). -interior: interior is tan cloth - it is rough and will need to be re-done.conv. top mechanicals in good shape, but canvas was perished so I removed it. -exterior: body is pretty straight without much rust, except the driver's floor pan, which has a hole and needs replacing. Paint is faded and will need doing. -other: I got halfway through a chrome bumper conversion on this car. I have both chrome bumpers but they are no on. Both are in decent shape, but will need re chroming to be pristine. -Also included: Haynes shop manual, Haynes Weber carb manual, new rebuild kit for the DGV carb, plus several oil filters (I had to custom-order them, so I got a bunch). NOTE - Bill of sale only for this car. No title is required in CT for cars over 25 years old. Title status is listed as "clear" above because that was the closest option. Sorry, I can't arrange for shipping. Local pick up or seller arranges shipping only please. NEW: added a couple of new pics: -windshield - i set it back in the frame so you can see the condition. It's in good shape - no cracks or pits that i can see. Just some scuffing from the wipers, which is normal and should be buffable. -frame - two pics of the frame rails, which are very solid. There is a lot of road crud on them, but you can see where i wiped it off that the original paint is still there and in good shape. The rusty bit next to them is the exhaust pipe, which, as said above, needs replacing. Thanks!
