In addition to the $1000's and $1000's of dollars spent on redoing the cosmetics on this car, many, many $1000's more were spent on redoing the engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, exhausts, suspension and way too much to even begin to list. This is one of my top 5 favorite cars produced since 1990. I have many cars available to drive but I really enjoy driving this car. What's it like to drive this V-12 Coupe? The mighty V-12 will catapult the 850i from standstill like an F-16 being launched off a carrier. Blast-off to 60 mph takes just 6.3 seconds, the quarter-mile dash is over in 14.9 seconds at 96 mph, and the speed doesn't stop coming until an electronic limiter steps in at 156 mph. The V-12 delivers its power with aristocratic decorum. It's like having a giant, vibrationless, hydroelectric generator under the hood. If you hoped for soul-stirring race-car sounds, you're out of luck; the Bimmer with the high-pulse-rate engine is the M5 sedan. The 850i's strength is seamless power. If you have never driven a BMW 850i than your in for a real treat. It is unquestionablyone of the finest Luxury Touring coupes ever produced...by any manufacture and at any price! When you see this car...from any angle, it is hard to believe that this car was designed and builtmore than 20 years ago. It is drop-dead gorgeous so we'll just let the high-definition photos tell the story. I realize that when your looking at the photos most are probably thinking "I know it looks great in these photos but it probably isn't that nice in person" You would be wrong! This car was treated to a $12,000 paint job and the body was flawless before it was repainted. There isno signs that this car was every repainted....no over spray or body work...it's guaranteed to be a no disappointment 850i. The gorgeous interior is all new. The 8 way power seats with memory are among the most comfortableseats I have ever sat in.....We were a dealer for many years of the finest motor cars produced in the world.Among the brands We sold were Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, MercedesJaguar and Lotus. This BMW 850i takes a backseat to none of the above listed Marquees...in fact, as far as a car I would choose to takeon a long cross-country trip or just a short jog around town...the 850i is very close to the top of the list. As soon as you open either door....you instantly know that this is one very special automobile. Touch either door handle and the window is lowered automatically 1/4 on an inch...close either door and the window is automatically raised the last 1/4 of an inch to make a very tight seal. The windows have been professionally tinted. When you turn the key and this unique & powerful twelve cylinder fires up......your jumping behindthe wheel and looking for the open road. It has a special exhaust system that gives this V-12 a deep throaty sound...it let's everyone know you have a special power plant under the sleek streamlined hood. This is the first luxury production car ever produced on an assembly line that made extensive use of computersto control most of a car's function and operation. This car has so many incredible features I hardly know where to start. If you don't already know this, the MSRPon most of these 850's topped $100,000....equivalent to more than $200,000 in todays automotive marketplace. We purchased a special book on this model and it will be included with the car. The fit and finish is sensational—gorgeous soft and sweet-smelling interior-luxurious carpeting—and it packs all of the luxury amenities one could ever ask for. Electronics are used elaborately.......and EVERY function works! When you grab the door handles, a servo motor lowers the frameless front windows about a half-inch so they can clear the deep channels that lock them firmly in place at autobahn speeds. The trunk handle controls not a latch but a switch that engages a servo motor that releases the latch. The steering column tilts and telescopes electrically. More computing power is employed for the cruise control, the climate control (with dual thermostats, one each for the driver and the passenger—, the anti-lock brakes, the traction-control system, and the 850i's computer‑controlled throttle linkage. This car is simply amazing! The 850i has two EXTREMELY large batteries mounted out of the way concealed in the trunk and has the first LAN circuitry ever installed in a production automobile. The computer readout works in all function modes. A speed limiter holds the top end down to 155 mph and the car feels like it's cruising effortlessly at this speed. This 850i is one of undeniable rarity, with only just 1,711 of the 850i's imported in 1991.
