2005 GMC Envoy XL. Engine has bad knock. While it runs we have left it parked since the mechanic believes the sound may be a spun rod bearing and said we need a new engine. There is no CEL and it's not giving any codes. Satellite radio, a touch display navigation system, rear-seat entertainment, Leather and power seats, tow package, and has a 5.3L aluminum block V8. Newer tires, inspection doesn't expire until June of 2016. No visible rust but there are definitely signs of external wear. As far as I know, everything else mechanically is sound. I have averaged about 6000 miles a year for the past 5. Within the past two years I had upper and lower ball joints replaced and I believe the brakes. The third light on the top back hatch flew off over the summer. In PA it was not required for inspection so I chose not to replace it at the time.
