I have owned this beetle for several years. I used it as an extra car so it was seldom driven, and was saving it for my daughter who just turned 16. It WAS a great little car that I would have driven anywhere. Then, within 30 days of turning 16, my daughter runs over something, knocks hole in oil pan, does heed the red oil light and drives it until it runs out of oil. Engine was seized. (Yes, she is still grounded.) Husband fixed hole in pan, and got it to start and run, but it has problems (no power, piston popping, and oil light still on) and he is not willing to work on it any further. So, this cute little car is now someone's project to fix engine. We had no problems otherwise. Everything else worked fine.
