1979 Ford Mustang 302 5-Speed Pace Car Modified Pace car. This was intended to be a race car for a lemons race. I have been told that it has a H.O. 302 engine with Edelbrock carb, upgraded electronic performance ignition, stock headers to single chamber flowmaster, top load 5-speed with B&M short throw shifter. Sony CD with MB Quartz speakers, 16” chrome 5-star rims. This is very fast, and has had many upgrades done to it. In addition, some of the interior was removed such as original seats, headliner, and most interior plastic coverings. I had intended on putting it back on the road but it has had most of the smog equipment removed and no catalytic converter. Two years ago in California, the Senate was considering SB1224 which would have exempted all cars 1980 and older. Unfortunately the good politicians of California decided to stall that bill. My next step was to have it licensed as a “historic vehicle”, which was a good plan, but unfortunately did not exempt enough of the smog equipment requirement to pass this vehicle. The car has been sitting for two years. I jumped started the battery and it started up. Runs strong!! The car has had recent damage to the driver’s side door, there is a leak in the sunroof, I had it covered and the blue material is just tape which will come off. The car does need paint as it appears to be original to the car. Other than the driver’s door, there are no other problems with the underbody appears rust free. There are no mechanical problems with engine or transmission that I am aware of. Tires are bald and will need to be replaced, also, the car has a starter module attached under the dash which bypasses the key ignition. The car has no AC, the ac pump had been removed. Unfortunately I do not have keys to the car, but I do own the car and have clear title. Since I cannot smog it, this will be a bill of sale only transaction and I will sign and hand you the existing title. If you live in California or other states with strict smog controls, you probably will not be able to get this road legal. This is the first year of the FOX body 4-eyed Mustangs.
