UP for auction is a unique and rare opportunity to purchase a pair of Limited Edition 1987 HONDA Big Red 250es that were SHERIFF ISSUED. The 1987 Big Red 250 models are already rare as this was the last year of the 3 wheelers existence. Add to this is the documented "Sheriff issued" insignia on the gas tank and history with the Deleware County Sheriff's department in NY. In 1987 only 4889 Big Red units were produced, This was substantially less than 1984 where over 208,000 were produced (see documentation). These models are early production #355 and #495 of the year. 1987 was also the last year for the big red due to the US banning 3 wheeler sales... From our research a small portion of these remaining machines were branded for Sheriff usage and issued to certain municipalities but these are the only two Sheriff issued Survivors known to exist. The sheriff issue is more than the decal... This limited edition can be traced to the registrations and documentation from the Sheriffs department where these machines spent most of there life. The machines were apparently well cared for and not fully utilized by the department. They show very little wear and tear... and still have the original tires. The plastics and rubber seals are like new. These machines also run fantastic. The unique pedigree and phenomenal condition make these two units a must have for a serious ATC collector. Because these two units have spent their entire life together as a pair they will sold that way. Both machines are complete with all working parts including the cool removable headlight for searching and road side ald. While the ATCs run good and appear to have low usage they do have some chips and scratches on the utility racks and rims. One unit has a very smail tear in the seat.
