Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1987 635csi (L6). Owned by a BMW enthusiast for about 3 years now. I have spent many hours working on it and getting it up to a very reliable standard, but the time has come for me to move onto a new project and pass this along to someone who can hopefully finish it up. The car has some cosmetic issues, but is very reliable and has been meticulously gone through. I've taken the car on numerous road trips around the northeast and has never let me down. If I had the knowledge and time to complete the bodywork I would keep it a lot longer.Below is a description of each major area of the car, as well as what I've replaced / fixed during my ownership.Engine + Drivetrain-- ~160k miles (cannot be confirmed...odometer gears were fixed ~4000 miles ago and I put ~3700 miles on the car before the fix)-- Runs great and pulls strong-- Burns no oil and does not leaks any fluids-- Transmission doesn't slip. Supposedly rebuilt by previous owner. Transmission pan looks clean and looks like it was replaced, but I have no receipts.-- Exhaust is all in place and doesn't leak. Ansa catback installed by previous owner (not loud)Replaced / Fixed by me within the past 2 years-- Replaced all fluidso Oil -- Mobil 1 15w50o Transmission -- Only a drain and fill Mobil 1 synthetic ATFo Brake Fluid -- OEM BMWo Coolant -- Flushed and filled with OEM BMW coolant and distilled watero Steering -- Mobil 1 Synthetic ATFo Differential -- Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil-- Valve adjustment-- Valve cover gasket-- Banjo bolts and lock tight-- Battery (1yr old)-- Fuel Pump, Main and O2 relays-- Rebuilt 'new design' 4 hole Bosch injectors-- Fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter and hoses-- All heat / radiator hoses-- All vacuum hoses-- All belts (AC, Alternator, Water Pump)-- Water pump, thermostat and fan clutch-- Both crankshaft position sensors (common problem)-- Spark plugs-- Cleaned cap and replaced rotor-- Coolant temperature sensor-- Adjusted throttle body, idle position sensor and AFM-- Cleaned throttle body, ICV, AFM and injector portsSuspension, Brakes & Tires-- New rear brake rotors, pads and caliper seals-- Front brakes are good-- Z4 rims and Bridgestone run flat tires with bolt on H&R spacers. two tires are almost new condition, the other two are only slightly worn.-- New front sway bar end links and bushings-- New brake hoses-- Steering box mount repaired (common problem)-- Probably needs some bushings with this mileage-- Anti-Lock brake light is on. Probably a speed sensor.Interior / Electronics-- Cracked / ripped dash (extremely common for leather dash)-- Worn driver seat with rips-- All other interior panels are in good shape-- Alpine aftermarket radio with Bluetooth, Phone, USB, AUX ports.-- Wired for amplifier and subwoofer (not included)-- Polk audio speakers in front and back-- Hard wired for radar detector (Valentine 1 or Escort)-- All electronics work (windows, sunroof, check panel, OBC, front and rear blowers, seats in all directions, wipers, cruise control, blinkers etc.)-- Heat and AC both work. AC was drained and recharged by a shop in June and has worked all summer-- Odometer gears replaced (put 3700 miles on car before fix. . .I logged all of the miles)-- All gauge cluster bulbs replaced and connections cleanedExteriorThe good-- New front and rear BMW Roundels-- Glass is all intact and crack free-- Weather-stripping is all intact and does not leak or have any wind noise-- All locks work. Comes with 2 keys. One is a brand new lighted BMW key ordered from the dealership-- Headlights, taillights, fog lights, turn signals are all in place, crack free and work-- Underbody is practically rust free-- The car is a 20 footer. . .I still get tons of compliments and thumbs-upThe Bad-- Paint is old and needs a respray-- Front end of the car is great. Very little to no rust but,-- Front splitter is cracked-- Rear end needs work. Prior bodywork / paintjob is peeling and started to rust.-- Sides of the vehicle has rust on the quarter panels and driver side wheel well-- Rear of the vehicle has rust by taillights and license plate-- I've used POR 15 on most of the areas and stopped the rust for nowPlease let me know if you have any additional questions, or would like to see some additional pictures. The car is located in Putnam County NY and can be shown to serious buyers by request.
