Vehicle Detail

***The Porsche 912 is a sports car that was manufactured by Porsche of Germany between 1965 and 1969 as their entry-level model. The 912 is a nimble-handling compact performance four-seat vehicle, delivering 90 SAE horsepower at 5800 rpm.[2] It is capable of up to 30 miles per US gallon (7.8 L/100 km; 36 mpg-imp) fuel economy. This combination is possible because of a high-efficiency petrol engine, low weight, and low drag. A variant of the Type 911, one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time, the Type 912 initially outsold the 911, boosting the manufacturer's total production until success of the 911 was assured. *** What we have here is a multiple owners not rust free California car in need of some attention. This could be a nice winter project for someone with the right skill set and motivation. Or probably better as a part car... It was parked outside for about 20 years near the Pacific ocean. It has rust pretty much everywhere you can imagine. There is no engine or transmission. The wheels are all mismatched. The tires are shot. The interior is highly deteriorated. The instrument clusters are gone. There is no more floor pans and almost no more rockers or tunnel. The car barely holds together. The axles are missing. There is no title. A/C needs recharge. Yet despite of all that, perhaps someone will find some beauty in it. It could be used as an art piece. Or as a way to teach your children what happens when you don't take care of your classic car and abandon it outside. Or maybe as a joke to your neighbor! And perhaps there are still some parts useful to you. The front hood needs work but it's there. The rear lid is in decent shape. The side windows are there. The chrome on the side trim is decent. The wiring is all there. Some switches are there. The door handles are there. Some parts in the door panels may be salvageable. The VIN number is matching. Sold with a clear bill of sale. The possibilities are endless! If you are local, I may even be able to deliver it to you for an extra 6-packs of Coors Light. P.S.: Again, just to be clear - this car has so much rust that it nearly evaporates when you touch it. It is sold for parts only, as is, where is. There is no guarantee whatsoever beside the fact that it will attract a lot of attention and you will end up with some really funny stories to share. On Nov-09-15 at 19:39:17 PST, seller added the following information: So tonight after work I braved the mollusks and the black spiders under the hood and heroically retrieved the VIN number - it is 129023199 If you look on the 912 Registry database, that indicates a later model 1969 that was build at the Karmann factory. I am not sure if the workers who put this car together are still alive but if they are, it is probably better than never see this. On Nov-10-15 at 07:58:18 PST, seller added the following information: The back half of the car is actually not too bad - the back seats portion is all there, the suspension arms are still strong and the back fenders are also good. The rear lid that I am giving with it came from a different car so it has no rust. The wheels are not frozen - we were able to put some air in the tires and roll it on the trailer. I am pretty sure the original color was Irish Green. The driver side door is locked so I can't open up to see the tag. I will add more images tonight after after work. This was bought as a part car around 1995 and left there. The seller had another one (1967) in a barn nearby and I bought both as a package. I am keeping and restoring the 1967 but I have no space to keep that one. My wife is bugging me every Christmas season to see the Nutcracker in San Francisco. I am hoping this will give me enough to buy 2 tickets. And maybe one for my mother too. thank you!
