Vehicle Detail
Although there were only 4,478 of these 4-cylinder, 2.4 L, 105 Horsepower, 2-door convertibles made in 1985, all non-convertible parts are interchangeable with the more common Toyota Celica GT-S. This 4th generation Toyota front-wheel drive now classic automobile has the flip-up headlamps, deep-dish alloy rims, pronounced fender flares, MacPherson struts suspension, digital instrument panel, with color LCD display, power windows & locks, air conditioning, etc. Buddy G. (a fellow teacher in Page, AZ before I moved here 7 years ago) ordered this car from the factory in 1985. He bought it fully loaded & it includes very rare chrome panels on the bottom half of this red (grey interior) car. It got 24-30 mpg. He sold it to a friend of his in Las Vegas who sold it to my grandson back in Page, AZ last summer. Chris brought it here & in one month blew the engine. It is now a car in need of restoration or as a parts car. It is in good condition for its age. The white electronic convertible top has tiny holes at outer frame rub points, 1 rear tail light cover broken (lights work fine), brake pedal rubber cover fell off, fuel gauge not accurate (shows ¾ when actually full), rear passenger speaker cover popped off (works fine), outside passenger door handle not operating (he heard the screw fall out when he went to open the door), & a dead battery, but all electronics work. No A/C because, seriously, why do you need it with a convertible, anyway? I think C. said there is a small seam split on driver’s seat but it has seat covers over it so I don't see or feel it. Front & rear seats always had covers for protection. There are a few minor dings here & there. Virtually all parts are original & it has all 3 pieces that cover the convertible top when the top is down. Unfortunately C. took pictures near sunset & not enough of the insides. I tried to take more but as its in my dark single car garage, they didn't turn out. I have no way to move the car out now that my grandson has become an adult & moved out. He & his buddies pushed it out, took pictures of it, then wanted to do other things so pushed it back in & it wasn't until he moved out & sent me the pictures to post that I saw not enough interior pictures or close ups of damage were taken. But the car is in decent shape except what's mentioned. You'll need to look up pictures of the Celica details from a web site (Autoblog?). Sorry for not having better pictures! It has always (& still is) been kept in a garage. I want it out as it’s obvious C. is not going to rebuild it having moved back to Arizona this summer. I wish I wasn't having to do this as I don't know enough about this car & am very uncomfortable doing this for my grandson. I started this sale just after he moved out, sold the car then the eBay buyer backed out without explanation & I have procrastinated with more important things. Now it's winter & I need my garage back. I have the notarized title signed here in Thermopolis, WY. VIN # JT5RA65K2F4053359 (3 car owner-AutoCheck History Report says "calculated owners is 4", but it's only been 3) . First registered in AZ (no snow/ice/ salt/rust) in Aug. 1985. It has 197,270 miles. I have an AutoCheck I can send if it doesn't show up automatically through this eBay listing. First (& last) time I've ever listed a vehicle. This rare car is in search of a new enthusiast looking for something unique & “celestial” (what Celica means). $500 as a deposit due immediately after sale. The remaining amount must be a certified cashiers check. Title and Toyota will be given to new owner once the check has cleared the bank.
