Condition: This is a very original and solid FJ40 with mostly original paint. Long time California car, and condition shows that. Underneath it's incredibly dry and rust free. There is absolutely no rust through anywhere, only some light rust and surface patina on the original paint. Part of the driver side rear quarter has been painted as has the passenger front fender. Color match is good, but the paint is noticeably flatter. The interior is in very good shape. Seating surfaces are all original and in surprisingly good shape. The passenger seat bottom does need vinyl repair and is currently taped up. Mechanically the vehicle has been well sorted with a new clutch assembly, clutch slave cylinder, fresh brake lines, shoes, and master cylinder. It has new fuel lines, fuel pump, filters, and all coolant and heater hoses are new as well. I have also installed a new headliner, top seal, window felts/rails, door seals, rear seals, and 3 point seat belts. It runs, shifts, and stops good. Issues: There are no major issues, but a few things worth noting. It does leak some oil from a few places, likely the front main seal or oil pan gasket but hard for me to tell. It also appears to be dripping some trans fluid after the clutch job, possibly overfilled and/or might need new drain plug crush washers? The Windshield wiper assembly is not currently working. History: According to the previous owner, this FJ40 was in the Borego Springs Desert for most of it's life before he purchased it around 2010. I purchased this vehicle in March of this year and performed the above work, but in the meantime have lost my indoor storage for it. It kills me to leave it outside so I think it's best to let it go. In the meantime I have purchased a high end fitted California Car Cover and that's keeping it well protected, but winter is coming.. Feel free to contact for additional info and photos.
