See this Wikipedia link for additional information: Eagle Talon: First Generation ** Most 1st generation DSM's found today are heavily modified for racing and have changed ownership several times. It's VERY rare to find one of these unmodified, for sale by the original owner, with low, mostly highway miles, in good condition and well maintained...not to mention the very top-of-the-line model with all the possible factory options.Vehicle History:Single owner, only ever driven by myself (although registered in my parent's name for insurance reasons during storage) Purchased and driven in Southern Florida from college to home (the length of Florida), which accounted for the first 50K, mostly highway miles, in a warm weather state Transported by car carrier to Southern California for graduate school, again mostly highway miles for the remaining 50K miles, in a warm weather state Transported by car carrier to Illinois and stored for the past 15 years, with regular maintenance by either a Chrysler dealership or specialized DSM mechanic I always babied the car - I'm a perfectionist by nature, so never let anyone smoke or eat in the car, and drove it conservatively I kept the car for sentimental reasons since it was my first car, bought by my father who passed away. Unfortunately it's no longer practical for me to store it, and I'd like to know it's being used by someone and seeing a second life Repairs & Maintenance: At 80K the turbo was replaced (which normally occurs around that mileage) with a new MOPAR turbo, and the clutch was rebuilt due to normal wear. At less than 500 miles ago, when I was thinking about giving the car to my nephew, it had the following maintenance and preemptive replacements done: All the accessory belts were replaced, including A/C , power steering, and alternator beltsSpark plugs were replaced along with a tuneupSlave cylinder was replacedTransmission, transfer case, and rear differential flush was doneInjector O-rings/grommets were replacedValve cover gasket was replacedDrive train was replaced (didn't really need it, but the part was available and it was recommended because they often go bad)Shocks/struts and springs were replaced with high quality performance parts (couldn't find factory replacements). It rides a little stiffer now, but should be adjustable with a knob on the shocksRotors, brake pads, and calipers were replaced with high quality performance parts, and brake system was bled and refilledFront control arms were replaced, along with new bushings and ball joints in the control armsInner and outer tie rods were replacedBattery was replacedECM was replacedFront and rear wipers were replacedHeadlights and parking lights were replaced4 brand new Good Year Eagle GT tires (same as came from the factory), with mounting and balancing * The above work and parts amounted to over $3,500, which I have the receipts for. Much of it was not totally necessary, but I'm a stickler for safety and it was done preemptively to avoid future maintenance & repairs, and part hunting in the future for my nephew. The work was preformed by a well-respected shop specializing in DSM repairs and performance upgrades. The shop owner noted the car was in excellent condition and had never seen an unmodified, single owner, 1st generation DSM like that before (all the cars that have come into his shop are heavily modified and have changed ownership multiple times). I also asked what else could possibly go wrong with the car based on his experience, and the only thing he could think of was the automatic seat-belt motors sometimes stop working. Since there was a pair available and I thought they might be hard to find later on, I got those as well, so they'll be included with the car, though they work perfectly.Mechanical Condition:Runs well, as good as it did new Starts up immediately Very fast acceleration A compression test was performed on the engine during the recent work above with excellent results Everything else in the car works perfectly: all the dashboard electronics (gauges, buttons, knobs, CD/Radio, etc...) work, power windows raise/lower, power locks work, both power mirrors work, headlights pop-up, front and back wipers work (including the spray), heat and fan controls... except for the air conditioning, which indicates is on but doesn't blow cold (needs servicing, or possibly just Freon) Interior Condition:Near-mint condition overall The headliner and visors were just professionally recovered with original fabric so are like-new (over $450 in work) The dash and central console have no cuts or scratches, though there is a uniform crack in the dashboard near the windshield, which apparently is very common, but not very noticeable The driver's seat has some signs of wear, with a crack/cut in the middle-back section that should be repairable with a leather repair kit The passenger seat is in excellent condition The back seats are like-new, and never really sat in The door panels with leather trim are also like new The trunk is in great condition, and contains the hatchback cover, and original spare tire with jack. It's very clean, and nothing is missing (even the cigarette lighter and coin holder) Exterior Condition: There is no rust, major damage or accidents All the windows were just professionally re-tinted two months ago with high quality film and to legal specs ($380) The car was also recently detailed inside and out, during which the decals were unfortunately removed from the side trim, but I found the original decals and they'll be included The paint is original (stock), and has oxidized and faded over the years as could be expected for a car of that age, and it has some small paint chips and parking dings. The back bumper has spidering in the paint, as well as the front bumper to a lesser degree. There's a minor dent/scratch that runs vertically between the front fender and left edge of the driver's door that was temporarily painted over with factory matched paint (which will be included) to mostly prevent rust. These were the result of being stored on a lot with other cars (e.g., opening doors) , but not from driving accidents. I could have painted the car, however paint jobs can range quite a bit in quality/price, and most modified versions have specialized paint jobs, so I'm leaving that option open to the new owner's preference/taste versus passing along the cost for what might not be ideal to them. The front lower bumper contains quite a few paint chips so also could use some paint, however they're usually the first thing that gets replaced during modifications to allow for more airflow (see the link above to the upgrade guide), and kits are sold here on eBay for around $122 (it's just a bolt-on part). The wheels are the original premium alloy wheels and are straight, but have some corrosion on them. They're usually painted or replaced during modification, so I didn't clean them up much or paint them since that also might not be desirable. The wipers and antenna were just painted, and all the wiper blades were replaced.Extras included (but not pictured):Manual, plus original dealer sticker, sales contract, and whatever service records I can locate Sunroof windscreen and storage pouch An extra pair of automatic seat-belt motors and tracks (for the future - see the note above under Repairs & Maintenance) An extra set of mats Decals for the side-panels Small can of factory matched paint What it needs to be Perfect:Paint job Leather crack in driver's seat repaired Air-condition servicedShipping Options:The car can be picked up locally in the north suburbs of Chicago (Des Plaines, IL) Or it can be transported via an auto shipper to anywhere in the U.S. (see the Shipping and Payment tab), which I'll try to facilitate.About the Auction:The car is listed with a reserve price set well below the final sale price for comparable cars recently sold. For example, a comparable car recently sold here on eBay for $6,500, but was it was somewhat less "stock" and had fewer factory options: cloth seats instead of leather, no CD player, the bumper had been removed and the car had been re-painted solid white all-over (they were always 2-3 colors - see his brochure pictures), the sunroof was not automatic in these cars so that had to be an aftermarket add-on, the headliner and visors needed replacing (likely as a result of the aftermarket sunroof leaking), the exhaust system was replaced, the passenger window had problems rolling up, etc... It did have fewer miles, but it was unclear from what type of driving (mine was mostly highway miles). --------------- I tried to be as thorough as I could, as I always was with the car, but feel free to ask if you have any questions, or would like additional photos. I'm confident this is one of the best remaining, unmodified 1st generation DSM cars available, and sincerely hope it goes to someone who will treat it well and get lots of enjoyment from it!
