The original import run for the Volkswagen Phaeton was only from 2004 to 2006, the import run is to begin again but with a MUCH smaller version of this luxury vehicle. The Phaeton was built in VW's Transparent Factory and was the outgoing VW President's counter to the Mercedes S500. This automobile is basically a limousine with more room in the backseat than a 6'4" man could possible use. Finished throughout in honey colored wood and Anthracite leather upholstery, the only comparable car on the road is the Bently Silver Spur, and in reality, this is the same car (same factory, just different badge on the grill). In AutoWeek's comparison head-to-head with the S500, the Phaeton excelled in many categories, and most importantly at the end of testing the S500 left on a flatbed while the Phaeton kept on going.
