Selling my new (to me) CX500 because, as a new rider and being 5'7" tall, this bike is too big for me to handle comfortably. It runs well, feels and sounds powerful, and it's evident that the previous owner took great care of it. The CX500 has a shaft drive and a 500cc water-cooled engine. Plus, there is very minimal rust and it just looks cool. I've owned the bike about a month now but unfortunately I need to give her a new owner and get something smaller. The previous owner intended this bike to be a cafe racer and made the following modifications:-Stock exhaust replaced with a Mac 2 into 1 system with a 2.5 in Cherry Bomb muffler, enameled black and wrapped with tan fiberglass heat wrap-Front forks shortened 1 inch-Wheels and front forks enameled black. Wheel bearings replaced June 2015-Front fender chopped and enameled black. Rear fender also chopped.-Black clubman handlebars with new muddy brown Oury grips-Fairing removed and replaced with a new 7-inch headlight and low profile turn signals. The horn was removed to make room for the new headlight. -The wheels and forks were freshly enameled black in Spring 2015 and any missing paint on the frame was filled to prevent rust. The engine and carbs have been cleaned and returned to stock, with new gaskets and filters in all of the systems as of Spring 2015. The tank is undented and has a few small scratches, most likely from contact with keys. It's nice and big, holding 4.6 gallons, which comes in handy for long rides. The cherry bomb muffler amplifies the sound of the bike's low end and is very loud and rumbly, especially when revved. We've put in a Vance & Hines silencing baffle that tames the sound very effectively, but that's removable if you'd prefer.If you're looking for a cafe racer project and can handle the CX500's size, this bike's already had a lot of work put into it and will save you a lot of time, effort, and money. Swapping the exhausts, removing the fairing, and removing the centerstand have reduced the weight of the bike to make the most of the engine's power. The stock seat is big and comfy, but changing that can remove additional weight. Again, this is a solid bike and I'm sad to see it go. It'll be great for someone into cafe racers and who, more importantly, can handle its size.
