1966 Mercury CometListed is a 1966 Mercury Comet 202 Coupe. This car was bought from a lender as it was a repossession. I have been dealing with classics for a long time and can say this is a pretty rare old car. Most were chopped up and used for drag racing due to the light weight design. This car has a 289 engine that runs like a dream. Dual exhaust with a very nice deep, mean sound. The car is ROCK solid. NO rust issues. I want to say mostly original paint but cannot be 100% sure, however, the paint is OLD and very thin. There were a couple very small spots that were repaired with filler(Hood hinge bent the hood about the size of a walnut) but other than that a VERY straight body. Interior is all original except a few minor things such as the front seat bottom and aftermarket radio. I also installed new carpet. I can say this vehicle runs and drives like a dream for a 50 year old car. I have driven the car maybe 50 miles or so and feel confident that you could come in and drive this baby home. Tires are all good. The brakes are good but pull a little once in a while.(normal on these cars) Shocks are good. Radio works. I have never tried the heat but it should be fine. All said this is a great old car. If I were into Fords more this would definitely be a keeper, Put a thunderbolt style hood on her and a mean ole 390 in it and go have a blast.
