Vehicle Detail
I am selling this as part of my late brothers estate. He restored Brit and 70's Japanese bikes and this bike was in his shed with others. My brother told me that this bike was given to him as payment for an electrical job that he did long ago. The fellow had this bike in his barn for years in Michigan and gave it to my brother. I also restore bikes but nothing like my brother did. He liked to find restoration bikes that were fully stock and as complete as possible, that is what this bike is. The condition above is accurate and the bike is almost all there from what I can see. If anything is missing, it is minor. It is ready to hit the rack and become a restored classic. I called around and talked to a lot of old timers about this model (I'm only 56 so what does that make me !!). The T100C in the S/N is the big clue and a few said that it is a Trophy. My opinion is that it stands on its own as a T100C !! None the less it is an awesome survivor example of a "numbers matching" 1970 Triumph. I did my own research and interestingly enough, the S/N starts with an "XD".......and if you look at the Evil Knevil Triumph Trophy S/N that sold on Ebay........that bike as well had the "XD" serial number meaning that this bike was manufactured the same month and year........so maybe those folks thinking it was a Trophy were onto something ? I found and NOS fuel tank , tank emblems and that little chrome strip that goes on the tank in my brothers shop (see pictures). The fuel tank is in plastic and stored with an oil additive so I did not remove it from the plastic bag. I think that they put that oil in there to keep the tank from rusting. The tank is unpainted. This tank and parts alone are worth some $$$ so take that into consideration when bidding. As for title - I have the Michigan title and it is signed by the owner who gave the bike to my brother. My brother did not transfer the title into his name yet so I am not sure what to do with that. In essence the title is "clear", properly signed and can be put in whomever's name you want. I will include that title of course. So I was not sure what to put in the "title" box for ebay but want to be fully up front and honest. Given the old age of the bike I think it is very easy to get a title for it so it should not be a big deal from my past experience with this issue. I set the reserve at what I consider to be a bargin price for a very complete and restorable 1970 Triumph. My goal is to sell it and give my Sister-in-law some $$ to help her out , not to make as much money on the bike as possible. You will find that this will be a good deal if you follow this model bike. Shipping is buyer responsibility. The auction duration is short as I have a lot of things to sell and want to be done with it. Good luck, thank you for bidding and I will answer any questions that you may have as best I can. On Oct-09-15 at 18:05:56 PDT, seller added the following information: *****PLEASE NOTE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION******** ****I was advised by another member , one who seems to know a lot about Triumphs......that the engine serial number does not appear to follow Triumph standards.***** I am not an expert in Triumphs and simply am trying to sell the bike for my brothers estate. That being said, I want to inform anyone who bids to be aware of this issue. The site would not allow me to modify the Title and other descriptions (to remove the "matching numbers" references) and I will check with ebay on the proper procedure to deal with this. I will also contact the current bidder to let them know as well. My apologies for this. I may have to end the auction and relist unless Ebay says that this description modification will suffice.
