Vehicle Detail

So I’ve recently reaffirmed the fact that I am a bit of a hypochondriac. I went to the doctor like a month.5 ago because I was feeling cruddy left arm hurt I’m thinking heart related stuff because my entire family has died at 90ish from their hearts just winding down. I used to joke about how I knew I wasn’t going to live past 35. Anyways long story short the doctor just tells me that my diet is shit (knew this since I only have time to eat once a day) and I am being too unhealthy. Also that there is nothing wrong with my heart I just pulled something in my back causing pain to radiate down my arm. BUT they want to do blood tests just to make sure I’m ok, and they come back showing my liver enzymes are off. They said it was odd considering I have never drank alcohol more than like once a year in my life, nor do I drink coffee, or soda, or do any drugs and have no family history of liver issues. Other than the fact that I eat salty food, not fatty or sweet. So I go back for more blood tests and they say my bilirubin is still elevated but going down, all the same I could have a fucked liver and I never drank? Like is it messed up because I wasn’t a total dick to my liver? Should I have been getting absolutely frank the tank wasted on a regular basis? You’re telling me if I made it more of a habit to get so drunk I don’t remember how I ended up asleep on a skeeball machine it wouldn’t have made a damn difference? I thought I was being healthy, what have I been missing out on? These are the same kinds of thoughts I would be having if I thought I was being smart by having a cheap reliable pedestrian blend in boring car my whole life and realizing I could have had a unique, rare, turbo car with an engine in the back trunk in the front, and not had any additional consequences for doing it vs having a shoot me Camry. I digress. Basically I picked this car up a few months ago after a long long search for an all stock all original clean 2 owner or less 93’+ black w/ tan leather MR2 Turbo with a clean Carfax i.e. no wrecks or mileage fraud. That was not an easy search, luckily literally a month after I got it and had spent a good bit of money buying parts that I wanted to put on it, I find out I could be up shit creek with my liver. Which brings me to this auction………for this car. This car has only had 2x registered owners, the first of which owned the car for 17 years, the second the last 5 years. I can’t remember the last time I saw a MR2 turbo that still had the stock airbox and stock muffler before seeing this car. I have to play it safe though and sell the toy incase my health goes further south, I may be fine I may not but I’m not going to wait around and do nothing so here goes. I’ll describe every aspect in detail, please read it all, I want to be completely transparent about the car as far as I know it, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. The car is not perfect by any means but it is a damn good start compared to most. Interior: Interior wise the car is mostly original and mostly great. The leather seats are all there and could be like new with some minor reconditioning, no big tears or chunks missing none of that. The carpet is good, floor mats are included (not sure if they are original), door panels are in awesome shape. The t-top shades could use a cleaning but they’re there, steering wheel and shift knob are in decent shape though they show their age. All of the functions and controls work like they should though the speakers do not for some reason, most likely a fuse as the previous owner changed the radio out and added on to the factory sub with a speaker behind the passenger seat. Easily removable if you don’t want it, still has the factory amp and sub. All the lights work, THE T-TOPS DO NOT LEAK, the turbo center console that goes between the seat backs has a legit old school HKS Turbo Timer installed that works good. The gauges all work good, factory short shifter feels awesome, heat works, A/C needs to be recharged. The dash has curled up around the defroster vents, probably can just be glued back down, also the ashtray/cig lighter is missing, haven’t had time to mess with it. All in all the interior feels like a good clean stock original MR2 back in 1993. I didn’t want something I had to put much work into and that’s what I got, passed up a lot of other cars for this one. Exterior: Exterior is about the same as the interior, no wrecks showing on the Carfax and no evidence of any significant damage. The rear bumper has some spiderwebbing where someone backed into something but that is about it as far as any damage goes. Of course there is a ding here and there for being from 1993 but the body/paint is overall great. All the lights, wipers, etc work as far as I can tell. The car has the 94’+ style taillights that the previous owner swears were stock not swapped in. He said the car was just a very late 93’, who knows if it’s true or not. I’ve seen so many different versions of 89’ MK3 supras because they were a crossover year. Paint has some faded clear coat on the roof panels behind the t-tops, possible they would clear up with some polishing. The hood has been painted probably due to the clear coat fade as well, rest of the paint seems to be original but I could be wrong no body/paint expert. Car looks beautiful sitting in my driveway that I know for sure. Factory fog lights in place and working great, the 93’+ just look so much better than the 91’-92’ cars in my opinion. No rust anywhere, whole undercarriage is like new. Mechanical: Mechanical is the strongest category on this car, needs little to nothing as far as I can tell. The brakes are like new, suspension is great, steering is good, so are the engine, trans, cooling, and electrical systems. Only thing I would do in the near future is have an alignment done since the tires are basically brand new and every now and then you can get a slight vibration at certain speeds. We bought the tires from discount tire, they don’t do alignments there, they have lifetime free balancing though. The car has a new left inner tie rod end, ATS CT27 turbo (original CT26 started to leak oil), HKS turbo timer, exhaust muffler gasket, spark plug wires, recent oil change only 50 miles ago, and timing belt @ 90k. The engine fires right up every time hot or cold, no knocking tapping or smoking ever, never overheats always runs under half on the temp gauge. Trans shifts beautifully into every gear, clutch works fine engages about half way, engine runs strong boosts normal has never had a boost controller on it as far as I can tell. Being a 93’ this car has all of the good updated mechanical items right from the factory like electronic speedo, factory E153 bombproof LSD trans w/triple cone synchros, tons of updated items with the engine including the ECU. This is the quietest running 2.5 gen 3S-GTE I’ve ever heard, even though it has the stock intake and exhaust you still can’t hear any engine noise. It doesn’t burn any oil but it does have an oil leak from the distributor o-ring which is a cheap common fix, just hasn’t bothered me enough to fix it just yet. Since it’s a 93’ it has the revised rear suspension as well to reduce snap oversteer. Sure fire way to tell that a car is in good shape mechanically is if all the plastic splash shields are still attached under the car with all the factory fasteners, these are all there in the front. All in all I would have no fear driving it to Canada and back, yes the engine is in the back BUT its still a Toyota hah. If I forgot anything please feel free to ask, txt/call/email 704-576-5004.
