Vehicle Detail
1986 Honda CMX450C Rebel 450 with 11k miles: I believe this bike is one of the best first motorcycles around: I'm 5 foot 4 inches tall and this bike is the perfect size for me. Easy to control with a low seat height and linear predictable power delivery. It has much longer legs than it's 250cc cousins. In my opinion the 450 is a bike you can live with - a 250 is a decision you'll have to live with. This bike is ready for you to ride: Brand New Kenda tires New Honda fork seals and fork oil Carburetor cleaning New NGK spark plugs Oil change with a Honda filter The bike runs great and drives perfectly with its new tires and re-worked forks. The fuel tank is beautiful and there is no rust inside of it. The seats are nice, soft to the touch with no cracks or holes. The controls, clutch and throttle action are buttery smooth - like a new bike. The mufflers and exhaust pipes are in beautiful condition and have never been modified. There's no pitting in the engine from damp storage, this bike is probably the finest, shiniest example of a Rebel 450 that I've seen. I love the black paint from this year, it has a metallic shimmer that's almost purple. There are only a few things I can find fault with on the bike, here they are: an imperfection in the paint and a small dent on the front of the tank. You can see it in the picture from the rider's view. There's a tiny imperfection, though not a hole, in the rider seat, can also be seen in the photo with the key. I rode this bike in Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota during my summer vacation. A bike like this with carburetors doesn't really care for thin mountain air, but it did everything I asked it to do and I had an adult-sized kid riding on the back with me. We pulled this bike behind the RV, you see, and we broke away from our campsite on two wheels. And now the bike is just taking up precious space in my garage. The first few photos were shot before the new tires were put on. I'll be uploading more photos and a video of the bike this week, watch for a link to be added. I invite you to call me if you have questions. I love this motorcycle and I love to talk about it. I'll even let you talk to the Honda mechanic who has done all that work on the bike. He's my boyfriend, and though he's often a pain in my ass, he's very passionate about Honda motorcycles, especially ones of this vintage. If you have a question about this bike, he or I will most likely know the answer. Honda only made this bike with a 450 engine size for two years, 1986 and 1987. This one has survived those many years and it runs just great. I'd rather keep the bike than sell it to someone who intends to modify this little survivor. 3l9-929-8272 - Monica On Oct-09-15 at 10:05:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Friday Update - In my list of recent services the bike has had, I didn't mention that the carburetor cleaning also included a new gasket kit. It also has a one year old Yuasa (not Walmart) battery. And a new Honda air filter. Please enjoy the video that we shot this week. The guy holding the camera is 12, so my apologies for any queasiness you might experience while watching.
