Vehicle Detail

Poison IvyThis is a rare opportunity to own a true piece of hot rodding history. This car was found in a barn on a blue berry farm in northwest Indiana where it sat undisturbed for many years. The car is a 1952 Chevy that was custom built in the 1970s in Indianapolis Indiana and was used as a show car. This is a genuine hot rod all the way.. from the vintage hand pin stripe and real glass swirl shift knob down to the Commander G78-15 wide white tires. The story... I own Scottie's Speed Shop in Demotte Indiana, one day a man in his late 70s stops in and asks us if we can fix a tire for him. As we are fixing the tire he says I see you like old cars.. I have a old car. I asked him what he had and he said a 1952 Chevy. He said if I wanted to see it he would meet me at the farm. My son and I met him there and walked down to the barn. When we opened the door there she sat.. dry, covered up and sitting on a concrete floor. As we uncovered the car you could see, smell and feel the car was special. Real, genuine, custom workmanship is everywhere on the car. We bought the car, trailered it back to my shop and carefully cleaned the car. After the carbs were rebuilt and installed we cleaned the fuel tank and fuel system, changed the cap, rotor, points, condenser, plugs, wires, fuel filter, anti freeze, fan belt, air filters, K&N oil filter, fresh oil, grease job, flushed and filled the rear differential and gear box and installed a brand new interstate battery, primed the carbs and she fired rite up. The car has dual Rochester carbs, Edelbrock intake, Fenton true dual exhaust, Accel Super Coil, remote oil filter, chrome air cleaners and a chrome valve cover. The engine has been modified and sounds wicked with the Fenton headers, cherry bomb mufflers and the chrome dual trumpet exhaust tips. The car is really quick for the weight of the car and wasn't just built for show... this thing will move! The car is a deep burgundy metallic with several customizations. To open the doors from outside you push on the body in a secret spot and the door will pop open.. from the inside there are hidden buttons to pop open the driver or passenger door. The trunk also has a remote switch, the antenna is power and frenched in... it powers up when you turn on the working vintage Panosonic 8 track player, the hood has been filled in the center, the gas cap has been smoothed, dummy spot lights, smoothed trunk handle, all hand pinstriped lettering and stripes, custom interior all professionally done with hand pinstriping on the dash as well, Hurst shifter with glass shift knob, red crush velvet headliner, custom made spare tire and steering wheel covers, two extra bolt on rear spinners to use if you run the car without fender skirts, metal flake steering wheel and lots more. The car has some nicks and blemishes here and there that I feel show the car for what it is.. a genuine honest hot rod that was built in a different time, a simpler time. I personally would never alter the paint, everyone that sees the car agrees. I'm in the process of finishing a 1969 Super Bee and just starting a frame off on a 1969 GTO Judge so I've decided to sell the 52 and let someone enjoy, and hopefully preserve the car for future hot rodders to see and enjoy. Items that need attention... The car takes a few try's to start when cold because it has no choke and the fuel pressure regulator is very old, I have never taken it apart but I'm sure it could use to be rebuilt. As soon as she starts the engine is tight and strong, no smoke or funny noises. Go's into all the gears properly etc. If a guy were to rebuild the fuel pressure regulator and do a final adjustment on the carbs and It will be fine. The brakes will pull to one side on heavy braking so I would do a brake job on the car or at least adjust them. If you have any questions I will be glad to help. Yes I have a clean title for the car. The color is a deep burgundy metallic and yes ALL the pin striping and lettering inside and out were all hand painted. The speakers for the stereo are hidden, two in the front doors and two under the package tray. Yes the stereo and 8 track player work as well as the power antenna. Yes there is a cover included, the original cotton cover. It's form fitted and has a zipper entrance to get in the drivers door without taking the entire cover off. Thanks
